Yeah!
The news is getting out!
There really is Lyme disease out there.
Pretty good segment on the Today(June 11)Show.

The only thing that worried me was the Dr said "If you are bitten by a tick,go into your Dr for a 2 to 3 week course of abx.

Isn't that to short a time?

Also, they said there's an article in Self magazine this month(cover has Liv Tyler on it).

Just thought you guys would be interested.

Have a wonderful day!

I agree with you,I saw that segment,,and that was the first thing I thought too,,that shows how uninformed mainstream medicine is on this disease!

I missed the show but had two people already call to tell me about it.

Do you think the doctor meant 2-3 weeks of abx for someone that noticed the bite right away? Although that seems too short even for that situation...

Isn't that the "standard" medical community protocol?

2-3 weeks of abx is the standard idsa "protocol." all it does is bring on chronic lyme, after an initial decrease in symptoms.

i was saddened when i heard that part.

Here is the link to read the article and watch the interview.

http://today.msnbc.msn.com/id/25062810/

I was not happy with this interview. I wish Ann Curry would have interviewed Dr Fallon instead of Dr Nancy Snyderman. It was horrible.

Dr Snyderman said the bulls eye rash appears immediatley after the bite. Mine took 2-3 weeks to show up, and at that point is when my doctor admitted me to the hospital along with swollen joings, fever and quite sick. The Bulls Eye rash can show up anytime it wants to.

I feel the interview was poor and most of America could give a hoot about the tick and prevention...especially non edemic areas.

I give this interview a 3 on the scale of 1-10.

Hmmm.....I had the Today show on this morning and I guess I missed it!

Of course...why couldn't they interview some illiterate MD. Where is Dr. Burrascano, they should have inerviewed him!

Here is a video from MSNBC - is this it?

What I heard was that she was saying if you get a bite go to your doctor, try to bring the tick, and get 2 to 3 weeks of antibiotics.

She may not have meant to say it, but what she was saying was 2 to 3 weeks right after a bite. That's not at all conservative!

The nightmare is that most mainstream doctors are telling patients to take one dose of doxy after a bite .

I think she did an unbelievably good piece and the more we write in support , the more we might get more good coverage.

THis is the url I used .

2 to 3 wks of treatment for a tick bite IS conservative in my book!

The person is VERY likely to have it come back on them later. They will probably show up HERE.

Lymebytes... They DID interview Dr Fallon. Overall, the piece was very good.
