I took a break from doxy about a week ago because I was in so much pain and in process of moving.

Now that I am more settled in, I decided to start up again.

Just a little info, I have no seen a LLMD yet but have an appointment next month. The doxy is from the doc who had me tested for lyme finally and I take 200 mg a day.

Well, within two hours of taking the doxy this morning I felt terrible.

The head pressure that I get every night as I fall asleep has been going on non stop all day.

I feel like the inside of my head itches or has crawly things going everywhere on the inside.

My head will just randomly go numb.

I pretty much spent the day curled up around myself willing these sensations to go away.

I had felt better for a bit, but knew I could not keep putting off taking the doxy, but I'm a bit apprehensive about taking another dose tonight.

I am especially concerned about tomorrow as I have a job interview for my first job in a while.

someone help ease my worries! Am I worried about nothing?

Hi Miranda,

Of all the antibiotics I have taken (and whoo boy are there many), the doxy by far hit me the hardest. It was really really hard on my system.

It's hard to know when to start, when to stay on the abx, and when to stop. It's a decision we all have to make about how hard the herx is and how much we can take, etc.

Hope your interview went well! It's fantastic that you are well enough to work. You may want to try pulsing the doxy so you don't herx yourself into not being able to work -- just a thought. You're taking probiotics, right?

One of the best emergency things that worked for me when I got slammed by an instantaneous doxy herx was taking several charcoal pills. It really seemed to stop the herx in its tracks.

Cheers,

Alison

Alison,

Thanks for the response!

I'd never even heard of probiotics before coming to this board. My doc never mentioned them.

The interview went well, I got the job! Unfortunately the only reason I have it is for lack of better options.

gotta pay rent, medical bills, and such. I feel terrible, but I just have to struggle through it!
