author, CURE UNKNOWN (http://www.cureunknown.com
senior editor, DISCOVER Magazine

PRAISE FOR CURE UNKNOWN

"Pamela Weintraub's book is compelling,
clear and troubling."
-Patti Adcroft, editorial director of Discover magazine

"In Cure, Unknown, Pamela Weintraub
has produced both the definitive
book about Lyme disease and
associated disorders and a
survivor's account of
a grueling medical odyssey.
Weintraub is a masterful science
writer and storyteller, and she
tackles the quarrels and quagmires
surrounding this baffling illness
with intelligence and pathos. This is
an important and unforgettable book,
destined to make a lasting
contribution to the field of
investigative health
journalism."
-Kaja Perina, editor in chief
of Psychology Today

"A thoroughly researched and
well-written account of the
disease's controversial
history."
--Jane Brody, New York Times

"Weintraub turns a tragic yet
eye-opening experience into a
shocking exposure of what can
happen when egos, greed, and
peer pressure supercede objective
evidence, allowing patients
to suffer chronic, disabling illness."
-Donna Chavez, Booklist

"A tale of biological complexities,
scientific turf battles, political
intrigue, human egos and
money - lots of it."
-Dorothy Kupcha Leland,
Sacramento Bee

"In the war of information
on Lyme disease, patient
activist groups have started
from a marked disadvantage
to the medical establishment
in terms of visibility and
credibility. That may be
changing, and science
journalist Pamela Weintraub's
new book, "Cure Unknown: Inside
the Lyme Epidemic"
(St. Martin's Press), could
be one reason.
--- Susan Morse, Washington Post

Pam,
GREAT BOOK! I bought two copies recently ....am keeping one as a lending library for my friends and the other one went to my family doc who is totally supportive of me but not willing to treat for the usual reasons. He has a young practice and family and he realizes the political ramifications of this lyme folly.

Your research and objectivity in the face of personal experience is commendable. Enjoy the book signing....you have opened and will open alot of eyes.

We're on the opposite coast but would love to have gone. Your book put alot of the pieces together for me. The more people that read your book the better!

Pamela,

Great book. I have focal problems with my lyme and was determined to get through your book. I got enough out of it with my lyme brain first reading to know tht this is wonderful and when I'm feeling better I WILL be rereading it.

Thank you so much for sharing your research and the wealth of research you put in to it.

I'd love to be able to get down there for your event, but as you know with lyme, it's hard to plan more than one day at a time since we never know where we will be mentally or physically.

But this is definitely close enough that we could make it, so will put it on the calendar as a tenative possibility. Good luck!

Cathy

I do hope to go to the talk in PA..

Thanks for all that you are doing for us. lymemomtooo

Pam, thanks for coming to PA..I had to leave early due to forgetting my cell phone, but I did stay for most of your presentation. It was interesting as were the few pages that I was able to read while waiting..

I also appreciate the early autograph. I was the grey haired lady in purple with the lime green jacket. I think 7 from our support group in Maryland also made the trip.

Thanks for going to the front lines for all of us. lymemomtooo
