I've been waiting a long time to make this post, and I'm almost afraid to do it now, for fear that it will jinx things.

But, here goes: after over a year of abx, my son is down to only one symptom, nightsweats.

No more mood swings, joint pain, OCD-like behaviors, threatening comments, feeling too tired to walk, NO MORE POTTY ACCIDENTS (for 17 days now, after 2 YEARS of not being able to feel when he hd to have a BM)no more twitching from the temporal lobe seizures. No more struggling to do the things in school that he was able to do when he was 3 or 4 years old in preschool.

Instead we have our sweet lovable 6 year child back, who is kind and considerate of others (even his little brother, at least most of the time!!)

Who aced his very first spelling test, who within 5 minutes of mommy showing him how to, was able to add large numbers column style (mind you, he tested with an IQ of 98 in January, while still in the height of his lyme symptoms)

Who is finally able to run and play and jump and ride his bike again, after too many months of not being able to keep up with his peers.

I know we are not totally done yet, but for the first time ever, the doc actually talked with us about how treatment winds down (symptom-free, tapering off of meds...)

Thank you God, for giving us our baby back.

and thank you everyone here at lymenet, for answering all my questions over the past year, for teaching me all the things about this illness that the docs never tell you, and for giving me the hope and support that has helped our family get through the worst moments of this illness.

Take care all,
kp

ps: don't worry, I'm not going anywhere yet. I still have a husband that has to get better!! and of course, my words of wisdom to share with others, for what it's worth!!

Thanks!

kp

Thank you everyone!!

Lymetoo, I LOVE the dancing green guy, very stylin'!

Yes, he is being treated for babs, and that seems to be what has brought him over the biggest humps (the potty and the seizures). The night sweats aren't that bad.

As soon as he falls asleep, his skin gets cold and clammy, and shortly after that his hair starts getting wet. After that, I'm not sure, as I usually head off to end my night at that point.

Once this passes, though, it'll be a month of no symptoms, them weaning off of meds.

Then I get to move this post into the success stories column!!!

take care, and for all of you parents just starting this journey, know that there is hope, and that things will get better.

kp

That is wonderful. I think my 5 year old is there....almost.

Now having some spatial orientation issues which may or may not be Lyme vs. developmental.

Sending prayers for Your family that all will be better soon.

So glad for the great news.

Hugs,

Geneal
