finally news for US ALL from our beloved member, TNJANET!!!
Dearest Betty,
I know I haven't written to you or anyone for a long time, but I wanted to share my very good news.
I have been seeing Dr. J this year and after my last round of VERY thorough blood tests, he agreed that I could start taking abx and antifungal meds.
I am into my third week as of next Monday and then I will stop for a week (I am assuming to herx.)
A few months ago I had to have dental surgery and was prescribed a Zpac afterwards.....the kind you take for one week and it keeps working for another week.
The next week I truly thought I was losing it.....I had forgotten about the abx and couldn't think and had terrible pain everywhere, plus literally hot one minute and freezing the next.
Dr. J explained that I had a brain hiccup (don't you love that!) The electrical charges in my brain were not firing in a rhythm for a while.
My ex-husband stayed with me for a while and my daughter came when she could. She is currently working third shift as a psych nurse in an acute care hospital. This shift has worn her down and in two weeks if they won't change her to days, she will leave.
Dr. J said she is young enough and not too sick so that she can start IV abx that would last between 14-17 weeks. They would put a port in her and let her self-infuse at home. The cost is high but may be covered by her husband's insurance.......$1,000 per week.
All my meds are generic and covered by my medicare HMO.
I have so much to say but can't stay online.
My eyes cross so I have to read with one eye.
Please share this if you want with all at LymeNet. *******************************
TNJanet is on treatment! After 13 years! And my doc is the BEST!
He is already so busy he is having to move offices in the same building and is hiring two nurse practitioners and other staff. He looks so good. I have no idea how he has handled the stress of the past.
In the last clinical notes he wrote about me he said I looked much older than my age. That was hard to swallow, but imagine a very ill woman after a five+ hour drive (my daughter drove) arriving in pajamas, flipflops, dirty hair, hallucinating, asking if the staff could turn out all the lights.
well I DO look older than my age....but I'll make him eat those words in about 4 years (oh yeah, he also called me obese......obese and old.....the two words no woman wants to hear....
but even at my age I plan to have some good years...and in my fantasies, I'll be dancing with a certain doctor. Button your lips.......I'll deny I ever said it!!!!!!
My best love, Janet
