After 8 months of not knowing why my 19 year-old daughter is sick and getting sicker, we got an appointment with a LLD. We have not yet received a test-confirmed diagnosis, and we meet with him again next week after a month of doxy. She says she does not feel better and she has come down with an agonizing UTI which is not responding to antibiotics. Also, she is very resistant to a diagnosis of lyme, very skeptical of what she has heard about lyme doctors who "always diagnose lyme" and overtreat to the point of harming their patients. Every doctor has said her problems are psychological. She has been dismissed by every doctor. I have had to play doctor and I have no idea what I am doing. I have always been able to help her with her problems before. Now I can't but I have to, because no one else will. And, reading this support website, hearing how people are still suffering after years of treatment, I feel very despairing.

My Lyme doc I think was skeptical that I had Lyme. He saw me after I'd been sick for over 12 years. My first 2 years I had severe chronic fatigue and was diagnosed with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome after my 'mono' went away. Later found out I never had mono, didn't have the virus.
I had so much anxiety, my doc thought maybe I 'just' had heavy metals, or adrenal issues, ect.
As I was sitting in his office crying about how I was afraid my kids had it from congenital transmission, he said, "don't worry about that right now, we don't know if you even have Lyme".
I thought I probably did with my history. He also believes I have Bartonella based on the anxiety.
I don't know about your daughter. But esp the first 2 years, I was VERY depressed. Suicidal, but didn't understand why. If my parents had taken me to a shrink, I'm sure they would have just said I had depression and hospitalized me.
My LLMD ordered a bazillion tests and Lyme came back Positive. So find a doctor who isn't going to take one look and say, "yup, she has Lyme." Find a good one who will try to figure out what is wrong, if not Lyme, then what is it?
Good luck to you, by the way, I got sick at 17 so I understand how hard it is to be a teen and be sick. When all of your friends are happy and energetic and you can't even remember your telephone number. I also got MUCH better by juicing carrots and eating a mostly raw diet, taking herbs, colloidal silver, ect.
