Lately I have had a severe case of PLOM disease. Poor Little Old Me..... Feel petulant, picked on, martyrish, sad, and so on. Counting my blessings is not helping and I feel very sulky. How do you snap out of this? Liz D

Treat yourself to something to lift your spirits. Have a little dark chocolate - that can help lift the mood. (The Lyme/candida swat team will be knocking on my door soon!). Read something inspirational. Fake happiness.

When I saw the title of your posting, I thought, "Hmm, never heard of PLOM disease. Wonder what it is?"
You made me laugh!
Oh, yes. I am very familiar with this one.
The usual tricks don't seem to work when you get like this (like counting your blessings, as you mentioned).
Yeah, what Parisa said, but with a slightly different spin...
Sometimes I find I have to do something rebellious, since "PLOM" involves feeling angry and resentful and helpless about not getting my needs/wants met.
Perhaps you need to "tell it like it is" (without burning any bridges; just get it off your chest, even if it's just by writing it out.)
Sometimes you feel like you're always supposed to cope in nice, acceptable, proper little ways.
So maybe just take something for yourself without waiting for someone else to be sensitive enough to do something for you. (I'm not advocating stealing, by the way.)
I'm just saying, if you're already feeling childish, then go ahead and be a little bad.
