Does anyone know of a not-to-expensive countertop water purifier to buy? We live in an apartment, so it would have to be a countertop.

I know nothing about them, but I think having one may make a huge difference in the amount of water I drink. Our water here does not taste too good, so I know I don't drink near enough.

Thanks for any help.

I'd like to know as well! I'm interested in getting one that can also remove fluoride.

Another vote for the Brita filter. I've been using it for five years now and it really improves the taste of water. It's relatively cheap, too.

Until I installed a filtered water tap on my sink, I used the on-faucet Brita water filters. Very handy, because then I didn't have to fill a pitcher with water. I was always too lazy to fill the pitcher, and nowadays the pitcher would probably be too heavy for me to lift with my reduced motor abilities.

I would recommend the Brita over the Pur. I had a Pur filter that would break every year or so--it was under warranty, so I got a free one to replace it, but eventually I got sick of the breakage. My Brita on-faucet filter never broke or caused any problems.

Yes the Brita's are good filters.

Handy and good tasting when you can fridge them.

COLD water tastes better than tap water ANY day.

OR if your frig is over 7 years old or especially OLDER,,,buy a new one,,you can afford it from reduced energy use,,and get the filtered water thru the door.

I just replaced my 15 year old box and see about 10-15 dollars a month less electric bills!!! Even tho my old frig was just as good,,,sight wise,,,NOT energy wise!!

I got myself a Berkey Light because it also filters fluoride and just about everything else. I was using Brita in the past, but it doesn't get out fluoride so I was looking for something more heavy duty that would also remove the fluoride since our water is fluoridated. The fluoride filter is an extra filter that attaches on next to the regular one.

I've had my Berkey for about a year and a half and I love it. I got mine from jamesfilter.com.

Thank you all for your input. Much appreciated.

This is one I found on Vitacost that is a countertop but has a different operating system. It switches from faucet to filter system whichever you need. Don't know if they are good or not.

Is anyone familiar with this type of system?
