We questioned the dentist about using amalgym fillings in relation to lyme disease. He said we had nothing to worry about.
We also questioned him about potenital root canals... He said, I don't know where you heard anything negative, but if you need one, you be perfectly fine.
Any thoughts?

My thought is you should get another dentist.

Do you have Lyme? If so stay away from metal fillings. When you have Lyme your body's ability to remove heavy metals is compromised and they tend to hang out in your body causing lot's more problems...
