Hello all, boy I'm I glad to see lymenet up and running again. In it's absence I tried to do some other research to answer a question or two.
In the process I read through some of the idsa material. In particular how they discourage long term abx treatment.
They claim that it can actually create bigger problems down the road.
I have to admit...it created some doubt. We need some reassurance.
We (my wife) have our first llmd appointment on Feb. 9th. We are confident that he is one of the best. We do find great comfort in that.

Hi, Doing nothing is worse than going the abx rout. Lyme left untreated will eventually kill you, some docs believe it's the underline cause for Parkinson and dementia. We have to face facts that it is not all in our heads we are not all crazy or depressed we are very sick and have a spirochetal infection.
LLMD's are the best way to go they know what you are facing and what to do about it. They also have a lot of compassion because they see so many sick patients they know it is a epidemic.

If you've read the IDSA view point you need to go to the ILADS (International Association for Lyme and Associated Diseases) site, www.ilads.org.
This is the group that most LLMD's belong to and it will help you better understand their treatment as well as the controversy.
Be sure to download the latest Dr. B's guidelines there. I refer to them often.
You are on the right track by seeing a LLMD. Good luck with your appointment!
