Feels like you can't get enough air when you try to breath in.

Yeah, and for me I'll suddenly breathe in a big gasp of air, almost involuntarily, from lack of oxygen. This can be a cardiac symptom.

I liken it to being a fish out of water.

Sometimes I feel like I am gasping for air.

I have to really concentrate and relax my diaphragm

To get a good breath in once this happens.

It is worse for me when standing, singing or speaking loudly.

I have gotten some moments of complete relief though.

Still treating babesia.

Hugs,

Geneal

For me, I feel like when I take a deep breath, it's like there are little holes in my lungs letting air seep out.

Boy, try giving that explanation to your duck--they really start pushing for you to see a shrink!

I think I suffer from air hunger, but I'm reluctant to call it that.

I don't know why. Maybe it's pretty mild. I still question this one.

I can't get a proper breath, especially when talking. It's like I forgot how to breathe and talk at the same time.

I find myself having to yawn to catch my breath.

What do you think?

Your Dr. would be able to tell you if it's a reaction to meds.

Till you get advice from your Dr. it wouldn't hurt to do some deep breathing exercises each day.

This will strengthen your muscles and oxygenate your blood. I'm not a medical person, but that's what I would do for a few minutes each hour till I felt better. =)

Deep breathing also relaxes you, and in general is great for your body.

Dr's may only understand SOB: shortness of breath.

Cant draw in a satisfying enough breath.

That sux. I start to panic when I feel like that. I gotta try to make my mind think of something else so I dont get a full-blown panic attack.

I do have some cardiac issues.

Good idea about the daily deep breathing exercises. That is something I do and have done.
I don't think it makes any difference. It certainly cant hurt, though [Smile]

My lung capacity has been tested (I forget what the test was called, but it was very thorough) due to a S.O.B. complaint several yrs ago.

That was all "within normal limits".

I know it's not a reaction to meds with me, as it has been ongoing for years, with or without meds.

I should add that my llmd says it's air hunger.

I can't draw a satisfying breath, as James said.

I can't catch my breath when talking, even though I don't stop breathing to talk.

And I yawn to get a deeper breath.

...BUT I don't have that panicky feeling others describe.
I want to know why. (maybe that's not reasonable!)

(No cardiac issues here.)
