Shelly asked.. "Anyone live in Alabama?"
Actually dear, I believe there were some folks still living there the last time I went through.
But then again.. I haven't been there lately, so you tell me....
Does anyone, besides you, live in Alabama?
Maybe you could go outside and look to see if there are any houses or stores or banks. And check to see if their lights are on. That should give you a clue.
Or call 911 and see if anyone shows up?
Or maybe even put a letter in the mailbox with the flag up.. and if it is gone the next day... my bet would be that someone DOES live there.
I am not in Alabama, but I am close. Florida panhandle. I am 2 hours away from Dothan. Where are you?

OMG TC, you're too funny!!!
I live close to Auburn and so does another person on this board.
We get together occasionally and have done a little table presentation over at the Auburn Vet School for Lyme awareness.
Glad to meet someone else on this board down here in Alabama.
I use to live in Alaska so know what you mean about being an out-of-stater.
Let me know where you're located at and maybe we can all get together.

GDP, this is a hot spot for Lyme. We also have Bartonella and Babesia here...and some other things yet to be identified.
What are you studying?
Over 32% of Alabama counties are endemic for Lyme. That figure is based on out-of-date statistics (2006).
I used the Lyme disease case counts available from the AL Dept. of Public Health, Epidemiology Dept. and the CDC's case definition of a county endemic for Lyme disease to come to this conclusion.

Welcome to Alabama Shelly and GDP! I'm a transplant too...from WV.
It is funny to watch everyone go crazy if they see snow flurries. Stay off the roads if they get slick; you may get creamed by a novice.
Beware, bread & milk disappear from the grocery shelves if there is a forecast for snow flurries.

Have you joined www.lymefriends.com? I know we have people there from Alabama, not sure if we have a group for that state yet, but if not you can start one!
