I am 9 days into treatment for Babesia - azithromycin and mepron. First few days I had an upet stomach - some bathroom urgency, loose stool but nothing too radical. Some stomach cramps and headaches - all of which I attributed to side effects of the meds.
Now on day 9, my limbs ache, I have a blinding headache, chills, cough, sinus pain and congestion plus fever of 103.
I don't know whether to think this is a herx reaction or whether I have just picked up some other virus. Is there any way to know? I am so new to all of this. Just dx'd in Dec 08 with Babesia, borderline +ve Igenex for Lyme and possible Bartonella (titer was 1.64 which apparently is just a "possible" infection).
I am due to see the LLMD next week. If this is herx, can anyone tell me what to expect and for how long. My initial course is 6 wks. Thanks all.

Sounds like you have a flu bug. Herxing can sure muddy things, though. [confused]

Thanks for the reply. Dont think it was a flu bug because I have never known a 24hr flu ! My temp is back to normal less than 24hrs later and the chills have gone. I still ache a little but feel WAY better than yesterday. Still no wiser but glad to be feeling better.
Not sure what to think of all this.
