Hello everyone. I need help finding a link. I used to have it, then deleted it accidentally.
The link went to a newspaper article in 2001 or 2002 about the International Lyme conference the Steere crowd was holding. They blocked anything on chronic lyme (surprise, surprise).
So, my llmd, Dr. P, told me that the chronic lyme crowd, or maybe ILADS, rented the room right next to the Steere conference and had their own conference.
The story goes that people attending Steere's conference wandered into the room from the chronic lyme crowd and became angered that they were not hearing the information presented there while there were in the STeere conference. They understood they weren't getting the full story.
AS I understand it, it came to blows in the lobby.
This was published in an article, and now I can't find it.
I am writing something very important, and I need to reference that article.
I have searched the internet for hours trying to find it.
Don't remember what publication published it.
Any assistance in finding this would have my eternal gratitude.
Thanks, Mary in Switzerland

I was there at the conference in NY... and I don't recall seeing or hearing anything about it coming to "blows".
I talked to some doctors who weren't from the USA who came and stood with us in the picket line and I reported on that in a post here.. and who knows, maybe even in an article I wrote....
But it was so long ago I don't know if the posts from then could even be found... or if that might be what you are referring to or not.
I'll check with one of the NY advocates for you.. one who was also there... and if they know of such article... I'll have them respond.

I believe it was IGeneX that paid for the suites that were rented at the last minute... and they were across the hall from Bumsteere's gang.. actually the Worm was in charge that year I believe.
It wasn't a separate conference actually.. but rooms filed with our literature.. and our docs talking to others.. and ALL of our literature that had been rejected by the Worm in the actual conference was being handed out.
There were EXCELLENT abstracts they rejected... all by our docs. If I remeber right.. maybe 26 of them? I'm probably wrong on that number.. but a lot of them none the less.

Yes. And in addition to the room that Igenex rented and our doctors filled up ( I think this was pre-Ilads) we had a protest across the street.
I was so mad because the NY Times had promised to come, and when they didn't we wanted to march down there and sit in. But, like all Lyme patients, we were much too tired by then.
THe only news coverage we got on this was from a magazine for doctors, not a medical journal but something like a magazine for family practitioners.
This was in about 2003, I think. Cheryl had the article up on her website for a while www.lymeinfo.net She is one of the best archivists we have , so check out her site and email her if you can't find it. Ellen PS There was no one who came to blows in the lobby.
