I have to vent for a moment......

I just came back from a meeting with my landlord (which is a company) and they are going to send my rent account to an attorney to prepare for eviction.

I owe them about $2800.

They refuse to take my payment plan any longer (I had been sending my rent in portions during the month as my unemployment checks would come in).

And this is the week I am finally supposed to see my LLMD for the first time! Now it seems that I may have to use that money for the rent balance and somehow come up with the rest.

I am so beside myself I cannot even think clearly.

I am not blaming anyone. I just wish that I could be allowed to be sick and get treatment!!!

<<<<< MissMari >>>>>,

I don't know what could be done, but wanted to send you a hug,and will be praying for something to work out and soon.

As you can see by my last several topic posts, we are also in tough financial straights, so I can sympathize w/ your plight.

Until, Lyme and Co. is given the proper attention it deserves, like MS, Parkinsons, and finally Fibromyalgia and CFIDS etc., many of us will 'fall thru the cracks' as it were.

And as many of us here, feel, those diseases/syndromes are a part and parcel of this whole Lyme Disease and co-infectants mess.

Can you perhaps contact a state rental agency board [not sure if that is the right term]. Explain that you are ill,and have to go to a hard to find specialist to get any help?

Any churches in area that might help? [Sadly I know, far to often,'churches' cannot or will not be the help they should to the ill and infirm folk]. You've probably all ready checked honey.

Any hows,I'll be thinking of you and praying! Remember this is Family!

Jus' Silverwolf, sympathizing and praying.

DO NOT cancel that appointment!

YOU need help FIRST and foremost.. and you've waited long enough.

TOO long!

DO NOT cancel that appointment!

Once you have a doctor and are under a doctors care- you may have options open to you that wouldn't be if you weren't under a doctors care.

My GUESS would be they can't evict you if you are sick and undergoing treatment. With no doctor you can't prove that you are sick and you wouldn't be under anyone's care.

You need to contact a free legal place in your area and discuss this situation.

DO NOT cancel that appointment!!!

Do you understand me young lady?

I mean it!!!

Also remember with the economy the way it is....

The Landlord is "lucky" to actually have someone

Willing and able to do a payment plan.

Can you qualify for Section 8 housing?

Hugs,

Geneal

There may be "rental assistance" programs in your area, run either by the state, county, city, or a non-profit.

Often you can get grants to help you stay in your rental residence.

One place to start is here: http://www.state.nj.us/dca/dh/srap/index.shtml

You can also dial 211 to talk with someone about what kind of assistance options you have. If rental assistance is not available, perhaps utility, food, or other forms of aid might be there for you.

I wish you the best,
AnnaL

I'd look into section 8, although I think there is waiting list but definately worth checking out.

Contact the housing authority in your area. You can find these numbers by calling 211, or doing an internet search.

You can also go to your town hall, they might be able to assist you.

There may be an organization such as catholic charities that also may be able to help.

Good luck!

Miss mari,

Don't cancel the appt. That is the start of your wellness. Also the doctor will hopefully certify you disabled and you may possible get federal funding there too.

kindly,
barb

Call your local town hall. There is usually a person who's job it is to find emergency funds. Explain your situation.

Get ON section 8 ASAP!!! Dont screw up your benefits by trashing a place,,,dont let anyone stay over with you,,,follow ALL the rules to an eyelash

There are groups and places you can apply for energy assistance!!

By the amount ,it didnt occur overnite, but HAS to be fixed yesterday to get to stay. There HAS to be emergency funds someplace that can help people in tight spots out.

Family? friends?

But DONT skip the LLMD apointment,,getting better is first step forward,,dont step back!!

I'm still here everyone --- and as always cannot thank you enough for your kindness in all of these replies and suggestions!

I have NOT cancelled my Friday appt; however I may have to reschedule it if the funds dont come through.

At the moment, the short figure comes to $130.

I know this office does not like it; and besides, I waited a LONG time to get this dr!

And yes, I NEED THE APPT BADLY!!!!

But I have to tell you what has gone on in the meantime:

I was turned away by 2 churches.

I was turned down by social services ---- I need an actual eviction notice and then they would REVIEW whether I would qualify for rental assistance

(times is tight here in the Garden State)

I asked my artist friends for a possible benefit for me..... heard back from only ONE of them....

And he was kind enough to catch up my rent, plus the dr's visit $$$ and some extra (no, I cannot give out his name :-)

The same day my car's cooling system went, which ate up the dr's funds....

I have been sick --- REALLY sick --- since Monday.

So I am still working on all of this.

I guess what I'm saying is I wish that I only had to deal with one thing at a time going wrong!!!!

You may already have done this, but some of us have found some cash by selling a few things around the house that we do not need - or were willing give up for the greater good.

Craig's list is a great help in that regard. And, by clearing out my coffee tables, I then had room for yoga!

--

That was very nice of your friend to help you out

This will all work out - somehow.

Hey down in the dumpster....

Better all at once than drip drip drip on your head everyday!

You think?

Now.. forget it all.. shake those cute little tail feathers and get your butt to the doctors.

NO EXCUSES!

eh eh eh...

NONE!

NO excuses!

And we want a FULL report when you get back!
