I just need to get some things off my chest. Maybe some of you can relate.
I HATE it when people who are really into health, detox, etc (but have NO knowledge of the effects of chronic Lyme) insinuate that with a healthy lifestyle, clean diet, and detox, we could all be feeling fantastic.
Sorry but I find it so offensive! Those people have no idea what I go through on a daily basis!
I am seeing this chiropractor because my LLMD recommended lymphatic massage, and his office provides those.
But I'm so sick of his attitude. He always suggests to me that the body is supposed to be able to handle infectious agents if you live a healthy lifestyle.
Yada yada yada. I'm soooo happy for you that you've never found a pathogen YOUR pristine body couldn't fight off just from getting on a bike and taking some homeopathy! Sorry, it's not that simple for everyone!
I am COMPLETLY supportive of what they do....keeping detox pathways open, eating healthy, rigirous exercise.
But try getting bitten by whatever bit me! I bet you wouldn't just hop on your bike to "push" this stuff out of your body! Give me a freakin' break.
I went to another chiropractor in the past, and she completely understood the seriousness of my illness, and that healing it was out of the scope of these simple healthy-living things. She was like, "i'm so sorry you're so tired." Not, "still tired? really????"
I'm not downplaying the role of alternative medicine at all, and I respect people that cure their Lyme with herbs, etc.
I just take up issue with people that are SUPER healthy, marathon-runner types, who rub it in your face, and don't understand why, by making simple lifestyle changes, we aren't all as radiantly healthy as they are. It must be my fault or something, some kind of weakness on my behalf, that i'm so sick (sarcasm).
I realize abx are damaging to my body, but I'm sorry, I can't just pop some Vitamin C and feel great like you!!!!!! So stop asking me for updates everytime I come into your office, because guess what, when i start feeling better, i'll tell you!!!!

Rant and Rave, or as my mother and I often say, Just throw yourself on the floor!!!
I know exactly how you feel!! I thought that my unhealthy life style was what brought this chronic fatigue on (because of course that is what I have, I don't have Lyme! Right) I know my diet wasn't healthy, but I think that the bug was just too strong for me, even if my diet was wonderful!! I exercised all the time as a child, I swam, played volleyball, softball, I just had a crappy diet.
And even though it has me down, I have put up a good fight, and I am not done yet. But, I will admit that I need more help than just diet, exercise, and meditation!!
(Hoos - Even though I am in Florida, I lived in Muncie for 6 years!!)

So sorry you get that GARBAGE from them!!!
I had several chiropractors do the same... until they got Lyme really bad.
Then there was never another word from them about it.
My theory is...
I've eaten right, exercised for years, done herbs, done supplements to the tune of thousands of dollars...
And I'm still sick from Lyme and tick borne infectious diseases.

Hey girl - I have definitely run into alternative practioners over the years who have been really judgemental about my treatment choices etc
One acupuncturist was so insistent all my symptoms were from antibiotics he influenced my decision to go off them, which resulted in a horrible relapse
Anyway, if your adjunct practioners can't get on board with your treatment, dump them is my advice!
Your the one paying them - where I live there are enough people willing to take my money for treatments that I refuse to put up with that nonsense anymore!

I agree about some chiropractors talking that way. It depresses me .. but should ANGER me instead as it does you.
Each time I see a different chiro I think things will be different.
I have and still do maintain a healthy lifestyle...much healthier than most everyone I know.
Still .. nothing.

Yeah, well the old saying "until you've walked a mile in my shoes". Those chiro are as bad as the MD's who think a 3-4 week tx of abx and it's back to the good old days.
They haven't a clue.

My gynocologist is the same way.
Trust me as bad as the conversation may be at the chiropractors,
It can't be as bad as having the same lines thrown at
You in the middle of a "yearly woman's visit".
Sure......I'm relaxed while arguing why I am still on
So many antibiotics and supplements.
I've told my gyno for the last two years
That my LLMD doesn't do pap smears....
And that he shouldn't do Lyme.
Not exactly his specialty.
Good rant and rave.
Pass the hot fudge topping for the ice-cream please.
Hugs,
Geneal
