I got sick while living in Seattle. However, I've lived in Massachusetts, Northern California, and did lots of hiking and outdoors stuff.
So I have no idea when I got bitten...my guess is Massachusetts, but I have no proof.
However, I do know of at least one person who was bitten and infected in her Seattle back yard!

I have had ticks from Washington and Oregon - but, living in Oregon, the doctors all declare there are no ticks; no lyme.
So, my ticks must have all come from your side of the state line, eh? (But I also had been very ill back in Wisconsin and in Boston.)
If someone is telling you lyme does not exist in Washington, strike them off your list.
EVERY state has had cases of lyme. Anywhere birds can fly and mice can scamper, there can be lyme.
But, also, as many of us have traveled or lived in many states, some cases of lyme can be activated even from childhood, many years - and many miles - away.
The Oregon Medical Board will deny this but, the past few summers, there have been several positive lyme cases from bites (rashes, even) received on the Oregon side of the Columbia River - my guess is that the Washington side has some activity, too.

<<<<< MindyA' >>>>> Hey There,
Another one here w/ no proof of when, where bitten, but I was raised in the Seattle area.
I was born in Eugene Oregon, went there frequently for summer, and holidays w/ relatives.
We camped all over in summer times, Washington,Oregon, and occasionally in Idaho. And once in the many years we were just inside the border of Montana camping.
Also Lived in Louisiana, for almost 7 years, late 70's early 8o's. Am not sure what it is to be really healthy.
We were camped on the Coastal regions of Oregon, and the Olympic Peninsula many many times. A family friend had to have a tick removed from his underarm when I was about 13 and a 1/2.
I don't know if we were in Washington or Oregon...it all runs together in memory now.
ANd I know in late 78 or early 79, we took care of a dog for awhile that had ticks, but that was in Louisiana.
More times than I can count I got odd 'exczema rashes', 'grass allergy rashes', 'contact dermatitis' and/or 'Heat rash' playing in yards, and fields at friends and granparents. both in Washington and in Oregon.
I had severe **strep and *mono'[*tho' we didn't know it at the time] together just after my 14th Birthday. Which sometimes seems to happen w/in six months of tick bites ...if memory serves/[ I have far to frequent "brain burps"]!!?!
That would have been **a few months after the friend had to have imbedded tick removed.
My immune system never seemed very strong, and I didn't really ever totally recover from Pneumonia back in 4th grade, winter time at about 9 years old. I am 52 now as of this last November.
We had *live cut Christmas trees* growing up, either at home[Seattle]or at grandparents[Oregon]. BettyG could tell you about being bitten by a tick from a live tree!
One month before Highschool graduation,in Seattle,at age 171/2, I was hospitalised because of an odd 'Virus like' condition. I literally got where I could not walk,
...ached was super tired, low grade fevers, got sinus infections etc. Neuro Dr. tho't it was a virus,or MS but couldn't prove it, even after spinal tap and myelogram.
I think the problem is pretty much everywhere,we just aren't warned about it!
Hope you find answers and feel better soon, don't give up Okay!!
