I had my decission from SSA the other day.. SOme of you might remember in 06 when i got a closed award but now finally after I have lost everything I ever worked for including our Home and car...
I stood in front of the AJL and broke down in tears when he said "congratulations you are now disabled, enjoy the rest of your life". I could not stop crying .. I was overwhelmed after all these years of fighting.. and after the last time though in Florida when the attorney called me the night before my hearing and asked me where my medical reocrds were?
said we had to go for a closed award and then re apply in a year to fight for a contious award.. Even my Doctors ALL OF THEM said I got raked over the coals by the attorney.. well now finally I have what i fought hard for.. medical care and a low income..
when I turn 50 I will be entitled to widow survivor benefits via my late husband who also died of Lyme Disease.. So finally this disease is giving back after all it has taken.... Linda D

That is good news that you've waited and worked so hard for.
So how does it feel to be "disabled"?
Go celebrate!

Isn't it a horrible thing that one has to "celebrate" being disabled?
I swear, if the doctors aren't raking us over the coals, the legal system is. Let 'em all burn in hades!!!!!
I'm sorry, I feel very ill this morning and I'm just in a very cynical mood.
But I am glad that you finally got what you've fought so long and hard for!

I am sorry you lost everything, but I am glad you finally got approved.

so you were FINALLY APPROVED for SSDI? your subject line is confusing for this neuro lyme patient of 39 yrs....sorry.
CONGRATS; sorry you had to lose everything.
6 yrs; you should be given MEDICARE BENEFITS BACKDATING to when they "officially found you eligible for benefits" !!
now with their going back, you would be eligible to submit claims for thigns you PAID FOR OUT OF POCKET that your health insurance & medicare SHOULD have paid back then.
i'm very sorry for your loss of your beloved husband to lyme also was this recent or how long ago?

I hate idiots who give snide comments like that. "Congratulations you are now disabled, enjoy the rest of your life".
I wish I could be some sort of super hero that fights for the chronically ill, yea that's it The Chronically Ill Avenger!
At that moment I'd appear with my flowing cape, rapidly slap em in the face a few times, and then disappear just as quick as I came leaving derserved retribution in my wake.
Oh the satisfaction!
I'm sorry Mr. So and So you only have 4 positive bands on your Western Blot. I'm afraid your pain syndrome is just a somatoform disor...WHO ARE YOU! FEEL THE MIGHTY BACKHAND OF DESERVED JUSTICE! SLAP!, UGH!, SLAP! UGH!, 15 MORE MACHINE GUN STACCATO MEATY SLAPS! Prostrate, red faced evil doer feebly groans, "Who... the... hell... was... that... masked man!" as I ride off into the sunset.
I'm taking applications for sidekicks.

John S, lol.
I'm more the romantic type.
I've been thinking about a knight in shining armor named Sir Herxalot who rescues those in the throes of Lyme and company.
He has to fight against the evil King Idsanore.
I haven't gotten much further than that.
Someday, I'l write....

Dear John S, I do comicbook art, and am working on something similar myself. Currently, I am trying to design a female character similar to The Punisher. She is actually a mixture of The Crow, The Punisher, and some others. My father always said if I were a Greek goddess, I would be Nemesis, the goddess of vengeance and justice. I have a lot of the story planned already, but character design is still in the works.
