Ive finally broken down & let myself feel this one...
Ive been trying to get my disability placard renewed for over 4 weeks. The first thing I hear is
"your only 20 years old theres nothing wrong with you"
followed by constant negative remarks & lies from this doctor who ive never met + whos never even looked at my reports.
who wont even transfer me to my actual neurologist.
Ive spent weeks now trying to explain to directors & staff & they have all been so helpful & understanding but still have never had my form signed.
the last women I talked to the "director of neurology" was im sorry to say it but a complete b*itch & hung up on me while i was telling her i can drop off another form if the doctor has misplaced it (cough cough lost it...)
ive been holed up in the apartment losing my mind because i see people driving HUMMERS that have PERMANENT disability placards!
im only asking for a temp...
and i dont even drive...
sorry i just needed to vent
at least i look fine! (sarcasm)

I am so sorry. do you have another dr that could fill it out for you?
do you go to a chiropractor or someone else? any of them can sign this.
you don't have a PRIMARY; i never had any problems at all.
you do have a NEUROLOGIST, but receptionists won't transfer your calls? that's BS. sorry.

Oh gee!! I'm so sorry, I should have been on disability when I was young too (18 I was the sickest).
why do they think age matters so much?? You can get sick at ANY age!! that is just ridiculous, and I'm so sorry you've had nothing but jerks that you've had to see!!!

Unfortunately I DONT have another doctor to sign it.
Im on Medi-Cal (sorry if thats offensive to anyone) so i only am allowed student doctors & absolutely NO alternative therapy
Now if i found one that blew my mind i would pay if its affordable...but no luck so far finding one
i would like to state that i HATE this city. yes i HATE it. again sorry if thats offensive too but i truly HATE it here.
rawr...
Too much anger, crazies, scenes, & no real sense of truth.

You might contact your closest lyme support group and ask if there are any lyme literate or lyme-friendly doctors who accept Medi-Cal (why would that be offensive?).
You may be able to find treatment by asking around - it may not be a LLMD at the top of the list but there are some doctors who work quietly. And California does protect doctors who treat chronic lyme, so that is a plus.
You might also call some of the local LLMDs and see if they have any names of doctors who may be able to work with you.
Best of luck.

Hey, I'm 20 years old too, unable to leave the house or even the couch on most days. Can't go to school anymore, I've never driven or had a job, and I have no social life. I just applied for SSI two days ago. If you want to chat, PM me anytime....I know how you're feeling. <3
