This rots!!!!!b
I HATE THESE FREAKING TICKS!!!!
Nice test the Vets have. I wish they had them for people. It looked like a home pregnancy test.
They can test for Lyme + 2 coinfections in under 15 minutes, right in the office. The vet said that the C6 AB for Lyme is very accurate for detecting Lyme in dogs.
I haven't personally researched to see how it translates to people, but he said they're working on developing a similar test to the one used for dogs for human use.
My poor pup! She was SOooooo miserable, I should have known it WASN'T the heat, not around here, not in VECTORVILLE!!!
DANGBLASTED TICKS! I HATE THEM I HATE THEM I HATE THEM!!!!!
I've really had enough of this cr p!

Oh! I hope and pray the little pup gets to feeling better real soon.
I've heard from my vet (am a doggie lover too) that treatment for Lyme in dogs is very effective.
Praying for the little pup!

Awww. Poor baby. Poor Mom.
My dog finished doxy for Lyme.
Within 3 days she could walk again and within 10 days was
Completely back to normal.
She had not one tick on her when she got ill.
However, even with Advantix,
I have removed dog ticks, deer ticks and others from her.
It is a snap test for Lyme, but isn't fool proof.
Has a better accuracy than our Elisa though.
(I think every test does).
Give your baby a hug from me.
Keep us posted.

I'm so sorry about your Kitty, sizzled.
She's 75 lbs and getting 350mg/day of Doxy for 28 days. The Vet said they usually do 21-28 days. I said I'd be more comfortable with 28 and he said "fine". A far cry from what I went through with MY PCP.
I think Vets should lecture on TBDs in Med schools. They seem to have a much better grasp on the whole thing. He also warned me about the possibility of relapse, so I'll be aware if she should start showing symptoms again even ten years from now. How many PCPs do that?!!!
Thanks for the prayers, wolf, I think they're helping. She actually started showing some improvement about 4-6 hours after the first dose and after 2-3 days is pretty much back to her pesty, bossy self again. I never thought I'd be glad to have her be a pain in my butt , but I am.
What a fright! I'm going to get someone out here to spray, as soon as we get a break in the rain. I'm also getting all over my Representatives and I think I'll take another crack at that (expletive deleted) Pallone again, while I have this upset to fuel my fire.
Geneal I'm so sorry that you've had to go through it with your dog too and so glad your pup made a quick recovery. Why can't we all do that?!! They must have stronger immune responses than humans.
She appreciated the hug Just a few days ago, she would have given me a dirty look, managed to hoist herself up and walk a few feet away to lay down again, as if to say "just leave me alone already". I know that feeling all too well.
I still feel awful for her, even though she seems to have forgotten all about it. My DH is home this week, so she's been busy all morning trying to get him to take her to the park to play.
astriapage-thanks for the good wishes. I'll say a little prayer that your dog never gets bitten.
I'm actually going to extend that prayer to include ALL dogs.....and even further to NO MORE PEOPLE EITHER!!!!
I'm going to pray that all the ticks in the world spontaneously combust and take all their infectious organisms up into the smoke with them. Wouldn't that be great?! After that, I'll go after the mosquitoes!!!!!!
I'm so glad my pup seems to be responding so well. I hope that she'll be fine after the 28 days and not have any relapses. That would be wonderful.
I wish they could learn from dogs' immune systems a way that they could make ours fight better.....
I wish they could come up with a vaccine for ALL possible vector-borne diseases, that would truly work without making people sick, so we wouldn't have to worry about nature attacking us or our loved ones anymore. That would be ideal.
I miss being unafraid in my own yard.

Is he outside alot? It is just incredibly awful that spring has just started and already the ticks are upon us.
Two weeks ago my puppy was diagnosed with Lyme and RMSF.
Again, I am so sorry about your baby. I know how worrisome it can be when our pets don't feel well.

She's a NAID - "Native American Indian Dog" (I do realize that's politically incorrect, but it is the name of her breed.

Thank you for your kind words. My little Kayla is feeling much better and she's really good about taking her abx. She's an eight month-old Australian Shepherd.
I am not sure I know what breed an NAID is. But, I love all dogs and I have a couple of dog books. I am going to look up her breed and try and find a picture so I will know.
I am glad she is responding well to her treatment.

Ooops forgot to answer....
She does like to stay outside alot, but now that I think of it.......someone had left the gate open & she ran off into the woods, during the week before she took ill.
She had run across the street & up the same trail that the deer travel. It's no wonder she was bitten.
She still has her winter coat and it's so thick that it would be next to impossible to find a tick under it.
Though I don't know how my DH found the tick on her face & I hadn't seen it. I'm always petting her face.
I'd like to pummel whoever left that gate open, though I'm SURE no one will fess up. What's done is done and I'm just thankful at this point that she has a good Vet.

Kitten is better although I think she herxes. She closes her eyes in a sort of pained expression.
Vet also has her on, 'Bene Bac', which is a probiotic!
She is to be an indoor cat from now on!
I am still feeling creepy from taking off those live ticks....eeewwwwwwwwwwwwww!

I don't think I have ever seen her particular breed so it was really nice of you to post her picture.
What is her name?
And that tail with the white tip on it! It's a show-stopper!

sizzled, sorry to read about your kitty. Are her troubles from TBD's?
I think it is always extra sad when our precious pets are sick.
I agree with your earlier post that said preventative medicines don't work for cats. Mine are strictly indoor cats and I still use Revolution and Frontline all year round. Even so, the ticks get in the house and one got my poor old cat last summer.
I hope your kitty gets through her herxes quickly and safely.

I don't envy you, having to pull off the ticks. I can't stand to look at them. They're such freaky little creatures.
Hmmmm... I wonder if my dog should be taking a probiotic. I know she could likely repopulate by eating a few intact small animals, but I'm not a big fan of her doing that.
I find her eating of small creatures about as repulsive as pulling off ticks. Especially since these would be the same rodents that the ticks are feeding on. YUCK!!!!
Thanks for the compliment!

The ticks hitchhike on mice and cats LOVE mice.
It's probably a good thing to have a cat to catch the mice before the ticks fall off or they would be looking elsewhere for a meal.

There are lots of deer near where we are moving too,so we'll have to be extra vigilant about keeping Sihayah doggy, and Muad'i pup protected.
Sihayah had a recent bath and trim,so looks more like a LAb/chesepeake cross than the husky chow mix she is!
Glad to be moving, but trying to get debri out of the yard, ticks seem to love dead leaves.
Hug that sweet doggy ,and that preciuos kitty for me please y'all!!!

I wasn't even on the lawn and guess who came to dinner?
THIS ROTS!!!! I had to go to my PCP to get the head cut out because it was on my back so I couldn't reach and DH shredded it. I have been trying to get in touch with my LLMD to no avail and I'm REALLY getting tired of the fact that I hardly EVER seem to get calls back from his office!

My dog recently suffered grand mal seizures. He was lyme and one co positive and after 4 weeks vet stopped meds. I educated the doc about the meds and buddy was put on long term doxy. No more seizures until we ran out. like clockwork seizure. back on doxy and ok again. Vet is very interested in learning and even had me find an llmd for his family member diagnosed for years with fibromyalgia. anyway my buddy is 85 pounds and is staying on these abx forever as far as im concerned. I will pray you pup gets better but make sure you are insistant about keeping abx onboard. Seizures are tough to watch. Good luck blessings, Trish

Part of the rules in the Mobile park are to keep debris and garbage removed from the property.

She's getting wise to everything I try to smuggle the pills in. She can actually eat whatever I give her and somehow isolate & spit out only the pills.

Thanks Betty!
I was hoping that the reason I wasn't seeing her posting wasn't because she was feeling mad or dejected.
Thanks for the hugs & sympathy.
I'm guessing that the reason I've had such a hard time MUST have to do with coinfections or strains & not my personal constitution since my dog's having the same problems I did.
If it has to do with whatever's on the Fry slide and it can infect cross-species, perhaps the Vet can isolate it. That would be a great help.
I gave her the Doxy last night & she's got some of her pep back again already this morning.
I wonder what the difference is between Mino & Doxy. Maybe I should switch & I'll have more pep. I'm sure not a puppy though!

So sorry AliG - I have a mortar and pestle that I use to grind pills. Then I mix them in with food. Can't be done for anything time release though.
I wonder if the vet that posts on LymeMD would know anything that could help? He seems to be focused on TBI.
Maybe your dog has co-infections?
It's so upsetting when our kids, including fur kids are hurting.
I hope your fur kid gets over this very soon.

Hey AliG!
My dog had Lyme too this past spring.
My vet has a pill pusher they use for cats.
Lovely little device.
No food, no mess either.
Just stick it in and push the end.
Pill pops down the throat.
I have 7 dogs.
Four of which could find a pill in a whole 7 lb roast, I swear!!!
Hope you and your puppy get to feeling better soon.
BTW, the doxy pills are easier for the doggies than the capsule.
Also my vet gave mine some pepcid to keep the tummy from getting too upset.
Keep us posted sweetie!

Let us know if you start wagging your tail.
I have a question-what's the difference between a relapse and chronic lyme. Do vets think there is such a thing as chronic lyme disease?
Dogs only get one month of doxy and their better-but are they ever given flagyl for the cyst form?
If I'm ever reincarnated I want to be incarnated as a dog. They don't even seem to herx!
