As posted on Lyme Friends by Cave76:

"For those that remember him from lymenet.org----- Joe Ham died suddenly at home with an apparent heart attack. No other particulars given to me.

He was an avid researcher and poster about Lyme et al. but was also known to some as KDN aka Knuckle Dragging Neanderthal.

I think I'll remember him as the latter."

Terribly sad. I'm sure many of you remember him. He was actually a member over at Lyme Friends too for a while.

I'll miss the Neanderthal funnies he gave us, he was a quick wit. His "Mens Rules" were hilarious.

His posts were always insightful and informative when it came to LD. Many of them are now posted on LNEurope.
We'll miss you KDN

All of the above....

I know it might sound bad.

But I hope his family does an autopsy and get's the truth as to WHY he had a heart attack and died!

We always need that as proof to the IDSA et al boneheads!

John was the first person who contacted me when I made my first post here at Lyme Net. He was very helpful, indeed.

My sympathies to the family.

I'm so sorry to hear this!

He sounded like a wonderful person.

I too hope his family does an autopsy/get tested for Lyme or however they do it.

Take care,
Ocean

I appreciated his emphasis on hard science and the articles he posted.

Very sorry about this.

Nice to know, though, that Cave is still posting somewhere. She is missed here.

Oh, no! I'm so sad about this. Joe had a sharp mind and some valid theories about his personal disease.

He was the first person to contact me personally when I joined the LymeNet board, too.

Unfortunately, in due course he realized I was one of the `alternative kooks', so we were often at loggerheads in the years thereafter. [Smile]

Nevertheless, there was much I admired about Joe. And early in our conversations, he shared some of his ideas with me that were important.....

Joe believed that he and some other Lymies in his area were infected with a `local strain' of Borrelia that he called the `Southwestern' strain because it was acquired near the Mexico border.

The acute presentation was unconsciousness (coma!) and hospitalization for up to 8 days, and then all victims had heart problems in the later stages. If I'm not mistaken, Joe was the last remaining survivor of the 5 he knew were infected with this particular bug. All died of heart problems (as I recall).

I always wondered if either Chagas Disease or Chlamydia Pneumoniae could be part of this TBI picture, but I guess I'll never know if he investigated those possibilities thoroughly.

Anyway, just thought I'd share some of what Joe believed and what he was fighting. He always knew that his heart was most at risk.

Rest in peace, Joe. [shake]

This is very sad indeed. My thoughts and best wishes go out to his family and friends.

I would like to be able to read his posts, as what he talked about sounds very interesting to me. Does anyone know where to find them? I tried searching some and came up with nothing so far.
