I need to get some astralagus to keep ticks that jump on me from embedding. What is the best brand & what dosage is recommended?

Thank you.

Pam

Pam,

I've never heard of Astragalus being used externally, in this manner - or maybe I read it and forgot. Do you have a link or remember where you read that, as I'd like to learn more?

I did a quick little search and came up on with this for pets - some pretty nice stuff here:

You misunderstand. According to other sources, if you take Astralagus it repels the ticks so that won't embed in your skin. That's what I am looking for. Buhner recommends it but says nothing about what source he prefers & that's what I am looking for. That & a dosage.

Oh, thanks, Pamn.

This seems to have a twin thread over in medical. This note, from over there:

I don't know if this applies to you, so here is my
WARNING - Read his protocol carefully:

From his book -
"Astragulus should not be used in late-stage lyme infection".

"The use of astragalus in late-stage lyme has the potential of stimulating even further the Th1 response and thus worsening symptoms".

Isn't Th2 the one that is over-stimulated in chronic lyme patients? So wouldn't stimulating Th1 be good?

I think Th1 is the one that fights new infections, right?

I've read in Buhner's book that Astragalus is not to be used by patients with chronic lyme (unless, perhaps, as a small part of a full formula).

It's late stage Lyme that it's contraindicated. But it is also recommended for RE-infection, as was already written.
