I'm starting Buhner's herbal protocol, but I find myself with considerably more pills than will fit in a standard pill organizer you can buy at Target.

The little 1-inch cubes for am and pm are pretty cramped. I'd thought about using a large tackle or bead box, but then all the pills are subject to falling out at any moment the box is open. It could be disastrous.

The only other thing I can think to do is use labeled snack zippered baggies. Maybe Michael's has a smallish 4-compartment bead box that I could by seven of...

Does anyone have a link for a really big separately-compartmented pill box or set of detachable pill boxes with four compartments per day? 2x1x1 inches per compartment should do the trick.

The biggest one I have found is on drugstore.com and it is size XL. I use it for my supplements, and still I need two of them for each day.

I fill one up for a.m. and one up for p.m. and do a month at a time.

MEDS SCHEDULE:

BettyG's suggestion for taking MANY RX PILLS/SUPPLEMENTS and keeping them straight! This worked for me really well!! 6.6.08

yes , i can see why you are overwhemed;; i was too when i started 22 supplements 2nd llmd had me take.

first, write out a schedule of ALL MEDS with your llmd..
******************************************
* before you start, gather all together and split up or different times to take them!
* I bought 6 of those really large pill boxes they make.
* i have 1 for breakfast,, lunch, supper/dinner
* 10 am, 3pm, and bedtime,
* ok, now get all the bottles for B,L,D and write them down and how many for each meal..
* get those for 10 am, 3 pm, and bedtime together.
* then ONCE A WEEK, i do my pills separating to different times, etc.
* i do the one PILL FOR EACH meal before going onto the next meal.
* so if i have B, L, D//SUPPER; I'LL TAKE THOSE 3 BOXES SIDE BY SIDE and fill each with their dosage.
* then do the same on 10 am, 3 pm, and bedtime.
* my 10 & 3 were REFRIGERATOR ONES..... so i had them by frig; would turn over container after taking that time for that day;next time ... 3 pm would be on top to remind me!
* i also wrote on a SEPARATE PILL CALENDAR when i started and ended each med!
* can someone help you to start with so you are doing this correctly?

I use to get my containers in the fishing tackle section in stores .... but now some pharmacies carry the huge sizes.

I have one for day time and one for night... and mark the sides with a magic marker with a D or an N.

Doing more than one week at a time in handy dandy boxes.. even doing one week sometimes... can expose the pills to moisture/humidity and they may crumble or become soft.

For things that don't fit in the handy dandy containers... like a liquid extract or a powder... I have cut up a small piece of cardboard into smaller squares and put in magic marker the name of what needs to be taken so I don't forget.

Also... I do NOT keep my bottles of meds out on the counter or in view.

I find that having to look at all that STUFF each day makes me think "sick" and it can be quite depressing.

So you may want to hide the big bottles from your view when not in use.

Thanks - I'll checkout that url.

Thanks too - I'll definitely organize in a similar fashion. Writing it all down sounds very wise.

Absolutely - I hadn't thought about it, but you're right. The bottles are going out of view. Period.

I finally looked at smallish button and bead boxes from Michaels. They had some single-compartment boxes sold in various sizes and colors. Most of their multi-compartment boxes had seven compartments, but they were flimsy. One actually fell apart upon inspection. Meh.

All - thanks so much. It's really nice to know there are others, farther down the road willing to give suggestions.

I use large plastic "jars" from WalMart. Look in the "travel needs" section in the toiletries.

They have screw on caps and are large. Sometimes they only have the smaller ones, but hopefully your WM has both.

I use one for a.m. and one for p.m. YOu can buy as many as you need for about $1 each.
