I have chronic Lyme/Babesia (untreated), a new Lyme infection (on Amoxicillin), and now I have bi-lateral ear infections.
The regular PCP decided to give me Rocephrin IM for three days since I got the ear infections on Amoxicillin.
I feel like utter hell. Yet, I have to go to work. I have the kind of job where no one else can do my work and with the economy so bad, I am afraid to take time off.
So, here I sit with my head pounding, my wrists and fingers aching, feeling like puking any minute. Plus, I have a sore throat and my ears hurt and are clogged.
My father (not Lyme literate) thinks rest will cure me and can't understand why I can't take time off. He says it's my fault for not "training" people to do my work.
I am "upper management" the people under me cannot prepare a financial statement or payroll. He thinks I should have taught this to them.
If they could do it they would be doing my job at another company. My company is small, my dad worked for General Motors.
I know I can't listen to him but it bugs me.
I have made up my mind that I will die at my desk if I have to. I won't give in to this disease and become homebound.
I had to take two klonopin today (normally I take one) just to take my daughter to camp and to get to work
Now I have to go and get my second Rocephrin shot. I told the PCP I was worried about herxing and he had no idea what I was talking about.
Someone, please tell me if I am doing the right thing. I feel so helpless and alone. Wendi

Hang in there Wendi! Have you made an appt with a LLMD? If not, you need to and would be in beter hands.
Take care of things now so you don't end up chronic like so many of us here.

Your pain and troubles sound horrific, but since you have a daughter, please try and send your mind to her smiling face. Maybe you will find a little relief when you picture her. She needs you.

I went to a LLMD last year and he put me on IV Rocephrin which I got for all of 4 days before I came down with blood sepsis and ended up in the hospital for a week.
I was terrified and went to a homeopath who I have been seeing but I am not convinced that it will cure me.
The LLMD I saw is supposedly one of the best in the country, Dr. H in Hyde Park, NY yet when I called with the blood sepsis he told me it was a herx and to ride it out. If I had listened, I would have died.
I find that office to be overburdened and they don't give you the attention you really need during treatment.
They throw a bunch of strong drugs at you and than send you on your way.
Very scary, I don't know what to do.
The regular infectious disease doctor who is treating me for the acute case is aware of the chronic case and wants me back on IV.
At least she is accessible. Maybe after a month on that I will be able to tolerate oral abx.
What do you think? I am so confused and scared.

Have you read www.lymemdblogspot.com? If you are willing to go to Germantown MD. this doctor might be what you are looking for.
Yikes! about Hyde Park! I think that this happens when doctors take on a huge caseload. And Lyme patients are very hard to manage because our cases are so complex.
What does the ID doc intend to put you on? Maybe things will be ok with her until you are able to hook up with a LLMD who fits your needs.
So sorry you are having a rough time. Hang in there, things tend to work out in the end.

Wendi- I live near Hyde Park NY and I know of several other LLMDs (including my own) in the area.
Let me know if you are interested and I will give you their names and numbers. You may know of one of them.
I am sorry to hear about your experience with Dr. H. It seems to me that many LLMDs are overburdened and not able to take the necessary time with each patient.
I have friends who have gone and still go to Dr. H and have completely different experiences. My friend from work swears by Dr. H. I am glad you did not listen to him in this case!
