a facts only thread. PLEASE limit any posts to direct quotes from the folks directly involved in making policy. there are plenty of other places here to insert commentary.

Obama: ``First of all, nobody is talking about some government takeover of health care,'' Mr. Obama said.

``I'm tired of hearing that. I have been as clear as I can be.

Under the reform I've proposed, if you like your doctor, you keep your doctor; if you like your health-care plan, you keep your health-care plan. These folks need to stop scaring everybody, you know?''

He has also said in the past that he prefers a single payer system. He hasn't read or written anything in this bill, speaks to the crowd

Those are facts.

During his campaign he said he was going to bring offshore jobs home then after election, he told a lady at a townhall meeting that we didn't want to bring home those jobs, they were not cost effective. We are going to create new jobs.

During the campaign, he busted McCain for even suggesting taxing healthcare benefits, yet now sees no problem with doing just that.

LOVES to blame everything on Bush but has actually added many times more to our debt in his first 6 mths in office.

I think that "Facts" are the actual problem here. There are no facts.

We can't beleive anything any politician ever says...saying it doesn't make it a FACT. They always change their minds behind some closed door based on someone passing bills (dollar bills) behind their backs.

Dilly you keep getting stuck on that fact that Obama said....you can keep your doctor.

What about all the other researchers and experts that say that "fact" is not possible??

I think no matter how many threads are started on this board about healthcare people are divided.

I don't want his healthcare....I am sorry, I don't want it, I don't want it, I don't want it.

What is going to happen if this bill does go through, and you as a lyme patient still don't get coverage for Lyme Disease on this National plan....and I get to keep my healthcare and I get lyme coverage...Is that then fair because that is why we all want everyone to have coverage is because everyone deserves to be healthy and have coverage and get the lyme treatment that they need???

You can tell me what Mr. O says all day long, but because he says it doesn't make it fact. We will not know the facts until the SH!T hits the fan so to speak.

I agree everyone needs healthcare. As much as I don't want this plan, I do think everyone should be able to see a doctor. But, I do not think the government can fix it. I do not want to give everyone coverage at the price it is going to cost. I don't want to cover illegal aliens.

The FACTS that speak to me/myself are that all public systems I have been affliated with suck. Yes, I did notice that some members on this board appreciate and like their medicaid and medicare. But, the real people I know have more horror stories than good stories.

Don't beleive this bafoon! They can't even get the cash for clunkers right. What they are proposing is Socialized medicine like Canada and the UK. Both lauded as failures by the very doctors in these countries.

This means rationing of healthcare and if your deemed too old or sickly, your SOL. Also there is a clause written in the bill that he doesn't tell you about that you will be penalized for not signing up for the gov. healthcare. Like thousands a year.

It will be interesting to see if anyone of them reads the damn bill before they vote on it. These politicians don't care about us as they get top of the line healthcare coverage for life.

I don't understand these people who want to give up their freedom and liberty for some supposed goverment handout.

They've (politicians) have screwed up and bankrupted our SS, couldn't handle motor vehicle and the mail system is going down hill, what makes you think they can handle something as important as our healthcare?

They keep saying it is broken, (lie). Our system does have it's problems but it is still the envy of the world. They pass this bill it will be a disaster for us all.

I know a fact. As soon as Obama's healthcare goes into play, my husband's great medical insurance will be dropped like a hot rock. Why would the company benefit the employee, when the government is willing to provide?

The welfare government will bury itself. China will own us.

Kelmo- China already owns us.
