Seems like people are sick still from Lyme and running out of money to treat this disease. Does anyone become cured?

only those JUST BITTEN, treated immediately with strong enough and LONG ENOUGH ANTIBIOTICS, and taking them at least 3 months with no symptoms before they stop.....
these folks are a rarity in my 5 yrs. expereince here but we do NOT GIVE UP ON HOPE!

I had undiagnosed lyme for about 10 years, and I found a doc who got rid of it for me.
I completed my lyme treatment 4 years ago and I am still symptom-free, enjoying my life--the same life I had before lyme disease.
I hang around here now to point people to the docs who can get them well so they don't have to waste so much time treating this disease for year after year.
I recommend a doc who follows the Burrascano protocol. I say, "Go to the best lyme doc you can afford right off the bat while you still have money, a job, health insurance, a house, a spouse, friends, a brain, etc."
But, it takes a lot of research to find out who is the best in your area of the country.
The doc is the key to getting rid of this disease, my friend. The doc is the key.
I have a number of friends and acquaintances who went to the Burrascano docs I recommend and they also got rid of their lyme disease.
Dr. Burrascano himself got rid of his lyme disease and so did my lyme doc. It has been 9 years for him.
You can read Burrascano's lyme treatment guidelines here:
They are not an easy read because they were meant for doctors, but if you have this disease, you have to educate yourself on what good lyme treatment looks like. Then, you will know if you are not getting it and will move on. I wasted 2 years taking antibiotics from a lousy lyme doc. Hate to see that happen to anyone.

I agree with what TF said. And I believe that I am cured of lyme.
Getting a good LLMD is the key to being "cured".

That is NOT true BettyG
You CAN get cured if you have been sick for many months or years. It does NOT have to be right away, although your chances for cure are probably greater the sooner you treat it. You just have to find the best approach for you, whether it is treating your Lyme as aggressive as possible as soon as you find out you have it, or using a different approach.
You can get cured, and the information on how is all here, you just have to be determined enough to find it.

I am so happy to see that some of you have been cured and there is hope.
As my husband lays in bed right now with stomach/liver pain as he describes it - this is a new one - I am pacing around the house sick to my own stomach from nerves, searching on the web trying to be sure we are going to right doctor this time.
This will be our 3rd attempt and several appt's cancelled after further research.
We currently have an appt. w/an Infectious Disease Dr. S in North Jersey but she is not one of the "popular" doctors that come up when you search on the web (although she does take our insurance and apparantly treats many lyme patients and is an expert w/Infusion Therapy).
I have contacted all the main lyme expert doctors but it is impossible to get a quick appt, we cannot wait another 3 months, everything is falling apart. Even Dr. E down here by me in South Jersey can't take new patients told us to call back in Nov!! I was so excited to see Dr. Burrascano's information on the web, only to find he retired 3 years ago, I didn't realize. Can you give me a recommendation to the "Burrascano's docs"? We will travel anywhere.
Thank you!!!

Sandyk, you have to work your way up the "food chain" of lyme doctors. It takes time.
In other words, go to whoever will take you right away (low on the food chain doc) while you wait for the appt with the really good doc that you want to see.
Then, once you see the good doc and know that is who you want to see, you drop the first doc.
Also, do a lot of research while you are with your first doc. Find out who in your area uses the Burrascano protocol (call the office and ask). Find out who has been treating exclusively lyme disease for the longest, and who has the best success record. (Get info from lyme support groups in your state--see web page "Support Groups" on the left side of this page, and ask in "Seeking a Doctor" to get more info on docs.)
Then, make an appt with the best one you can get.
If you are willing to travel to the Baltimore area, I can give you the name of the doc who cured me, but you will have to call and call to get in with him. He generally isn't taking new patients, but he takes one or 2 every once in a while. You just have to call at the right time to be one of the ones who get in with him.
Send me a private message if you want the name. You see him monthly.

I hope some do. There is a lot of people seems who do not get cured and /or relapse. But I am thinking that most who get reasonably healthy do not hangout on lyme resources much anymore.
- that is the only thing which gives me some hope . I am thinking I should at least try to go to some length before giving up.

I'm hopeful that my 7 year old (at age 4, was misdiagnosed for 9 moonths, despite classic symptoms), will be cured. Has only been in treatment for 4 months, and already is making good progress.....
