Labor Day. My husband does not have it off. But for those that do, have a nice holiday!

We are having incredibly beautiful weather here in Maine! Dry air, blue sky days and cool at night which is great for sleeping.

Have a good day!

Labor Day-Just took Rocky out to potty only. Got the guys here tearing down the rest of the old workshop.

My husband is off this week starting tomorrow so we'll be working on the other shed that needs to be torn down, trimming trees, picking up junk to go to the dump, etc.

Kgg, I don't have to mow all year long but once the leaves fall, I'll be raking. To me raking leaves is harder because of my bad shoulder and elbow.

And this year I will try not to set my yard on fire again. Once was embarrassing enough.

See you all later!

Hi kgg

I live in Skowhegan Maine...and the weather is great and so welcome after 2 months of rain!

Im going to try to walk at least 1.5 miles today and stack some firewood (that time of year again)

The dry fresh air should make this much more enjoyable and attainable.

Welcome, BJK! Good to have another Mainer here! I am north of Bangor. You are in a pretty area. Yes, I will be stacking wood soon, too. Both at my house and my Dad's. I was surprised that it did not bother me to do it last year. Must be a motion my arms don't mind.

Good job on a mile walk, Betty!

Aklnwlf, my husband is off next week. We were hoping to travel but we will be doing chores around the yard instead, like you. Thankfully, we don't rake. No trees over the lawn and the mower mulches what blows in.

I processed some green beans yesterday to freeze. I had them out on the counter on a towel drying after blanching. Miss Pris helped herself to half of them while we were out on an errand. Needless to say the rest got pitched and she had gas all evening! I was not a happy camper...

I am going to be cleaning over at my Dad's today, so that will be my activity.

Have a good day everyone!
Karen

Good to read what you all are doing.

Welcome BJK...did you get your walk in??

Ms pris...next year you can dig the holes for planting to make up for this year.

Akinwlf and Karen...I miss owning my own home but would be hard pressed to do what you all are doing right now.

Betty, I heard the leaves on the trees were changing all ready in Iowa.

Monday and Tuesday...Rosie and I cruised around the city block in the reclining power chair with leg lifts. Good to be out of the house.

But, will be glad when I can be on my feet again in the forest.

Hi everyone!

I just got back from three days of camping -- first time camping since my lyme diagnosis in 2006. I was a bit nervous about the ticks at first, but just couldn't pass up the opportunity for fishing and sleeping under the stars.

I had an amazing time. Some walking, wading in the creeks, lots of fishing, some reading, and smores.

Just a wonderfully relaxing time before my fall schedule kicks into overdrive. There is nothing better than making memories with your family.

I am trying to figure out a way to fit in the gym again, without having to get up at 6 am. Not sure how I am going to do that . . .

Do the best that you can with the exercise, but be kind to yourself. You are important.

Drove out to see if the road had opened to Waterwheel yet after the fires.

It was still closed.

So stopped at the indian ruins and walked 5 min, rest 5 min, then walked out.

Feeling discouraged as the walking thing is just not doing well lately.

I think the couple behind on the trail must have thought I was drunk. I felt like throwing up and had a lot of difficulty moving the legs...body very heavy.

It is cooler out now. I thought I would be OK once it got cooler. Wrong.

Hey

Kam....no I didnt get that 1.5 miles in, my hip was bothering some...but i did get .5 mile in yesterday

I definitely understand your discouragement. I've had so many ups and downs. There were times i had wondered if they would ever stop

just to name a couple of walking related symptoms ive had to deal with...i had for some time a movement generated 'disorder' they called chorea

when i tried to move anything...including walking, my whole body would twist and writhe around and i was stuck in a crooked hunched position...

you mentioned that they must have thought you'd been drinking... i used to be very self conscious about how i looked when i wasnt at my best

later as the chorea cleared up i still had a balance/coordination issue that made me walk in a sort of swervey line and tip sometimes

I'd never have passed a 'walk in a straight line' test

Thankfully, now as treatment has progressed, im just battling the fatigue and my muscles being unbalanced and out of shape from being inactive and 'twisted' for so long

physical therapy has been needed to help this along and progress, as it seems all has been, that has had alot of ups and downs...but

looking back over long term, its been progress, just not as fast as id like.

Thank the Lord...for some time now the setbacks are very small and its been a steady moving forward...i never thought id get to this point...but i have and am very grateful

while i was in the midst of a discouraging moment it was hard to see any light at the end of the tunnel, but now im here and there's some light

we can get there....

[group hug]

BJK...your post made me smile. So glad things are on the path they are for you.

Doing better today.

Went out to the Indian Ruins as it was raining here. 5 min, rest 5 and then walk back out 5.

Not aware of what Rosie was doing. Back to my just put one foot in front of the other thing and not aware of my surroundings.

It was Ok though as we were the only ones there.

Breath in. Breath out.

I've never posted in this before, but I thought I would this week. I've had crazy muscle fatigue/weakness for the last two and a half weeks, and hadn't been able to force myself to do much more than walk up a flight of stairs.

Saturday, I was able to go to the gym, and do the elliptical for 30 min (running/treadmill hurts too much)

I felt really sore the next day, which was discouraging because I'd been able to be fairly active up until 3 weeks ago.

But, yesterday, I went to the gym again, and did the same thing, and I wasn't nearly as sore today! Plus, there was a cute guy on the elliptical beside me!

I plan to swim tomorrow morning. It's wonderful and calming, and it doesn't stress my joints at all.

Welcome Nicole! Swimming sounds wonderful!

And you may have just given me the motivation I need to get back to the gym -- cute guys!

Eye candy!

Went out to the ruins again. Good strong walk. Able to hold my head up, shoulders back, stomach in.

5 min, rested, 5 min out.

I will read what the others posted later. Brain is being weird again.

Hi Everybody!!!

Well, I don't even want to tell you all how hard I've worked this week.

Suffice to say I can hardly move!

Rocky didn't get walked but was outside on the dog run the whole time we worked outside.

The rest of the week for me is going to be spent doing as little as possible.

Loved reading all the posts and missed everyone.

Laughed about Miss Priss. Doggie gas is the worst!

See you all later!

[hi]

Did the 10 min loop in the National Forest tonight.

it seemed like it had been a long time since I had been out there.

Good to be there. The smell of the Ponderosa Pines were in the air.

Welcome, Denise! I certainly can relate to that fatigue/weakness leg muscle symptom. I hate it. It makes me worry that I will have to put in a stairs chair at some point and those are not cheap! Glad to hear that you were able to get to the gym and not crash too hard.

I spent the last few days going to appointments 45 miles away. Once I get home, I am usually toast. So I did not do much at all. But Miss Pris and I went to the mail today.

Hope everyone has a good weekend!
Karen

I didn't walk on Friday. I hurt my back by dumping out drip plates under my plants. We had gotten a lot of rain.

Hope to be OK by Monday...??

Out to the indian ruins this am. 5 min, rest, 5 min out.

Able to take in a bit more of my surroundings today.

Noticed a white truck in the parking lot and a red one. The Red one had a couple of people passes a joint between them.

the white one loaded up their dog while we were coming back. heard the dog before we saw it.

Then watched it as it yipped all the one down the road in the back of the pick up. Guess it was having lots of fun or complaining because it had left the Indian Ruins.

Saw a blue jay and a cotton tail on the way.

Again, lots of elk droppings at the site.

But, heart was pounding. Even when I got back home and just got up to go to the bathroom the heart was working over time.

Looks like it will be down time until after 5 again today.

Driving out I was fine with having the windows down and the road noise. On the way back...it was just too much...time to roll them up and put the air on low.

The sound of the fan also gets to me.

Ok still not up to reading what others wrote yet. But, I was able to head out Houston Mesa Road this afternoon.

It is now open after the fires in that area. Waterwheel is still a closed area and not stopping in burnt out area either on either side of the road.

Stopped at 3rd creek crossing. WAlked 5 min, rested a couple of times and then walked out.

Walked on a new trail but it was a short one.

10 min loop this evening. Started off with two dogs chasing Rosie. One was a bit too aggressive.

Rosie tried to climb over me to get back in the car.

The aggressive one tried to jump in my lap while I was in the car too.

Looks like he enjoyed his outing..he was muddy and wet and heavy.

I was out of breath and exhausted with the heart beating faster than it should but glad to be out and on my feet and moving my body.
