I got my PICC line a few days ago. The white mesh sock thing they gave me to wear over it is REALLY BORING. Plus it's kind of itchy.
So started looking for more exciting items to cover my arms.
At first I considered buying cool socks and cutting them into arm covers. I might still do this.
Then I saw elsewhere that someone recommended checking out Islamic clothing sites for arm covers.
I found a wonderful array of options! The traditional use is to provide extra modesty coverage if a woman is wearing shorter sleeves or if the sleeves are loose and might fall back when she raises her arms.
However, they are also awesome arm covers for PICC lines. I bought six different colors, from lemon yellow to fuchsia, and now I can mix and match with my wardrobe.
I bought mine at http://www.al-muminat.com (check under "hijab accessories"), but there are many websites to choose from. The prices I saw range from $2.50/pair to $8.00/pair, depending on the website, style, material, etc.
Anyway, I thought I'd share this fun discovery!
I have pictures on my blog (http://mylifewithcfs.blogspot.com/) of how it looks.
Cheers! -AnnaL

Another cool idea--arm warmers! When my cousin had a PICC for chemo, she wore those arm warmers that all the hipsters are wearing. She got tons of compliments!
I'm thinking about getting a couple of pairs to be cozy this winter.

If you do a Google search for "arm warmers" you'll find a ton of results. Also, if you want the homemade touch, Etsy.com is a fun place to shop.

Anna...Which product on the site are you talking about? I ordered some cutsie ones made for picc lines and they do not work at all. You had to send upper and lower arm measurements. Can't even get them on.. a total waste of money.
Sometimes also, I have bought some cute socks and things, but with everything under it, most are too tight on your arm. So far, the only thing that is comfortable and works well are men's cut off tube socks!

Oh sorry, the site on your original post. That's the only one I saw. I am having a hard time finding picc covers that are comfortable and work well. (and I do have skinny arms).

Keltyl-- I think you will like the Islamic arm sleeves. I prefer the longer kind--but they only have lemon yellow and kiwi green in stock.
So I bought the yellow and green in the long style, then four other colors in the shorter style.
The shorter style, if I pull it up to completly cover the PICC site, comes about 3/4 down my arm.
But if you've had trouble in the past, you could try ordering just one pair and see how you like it.
Here's how the longer pair fit me:
They are snug enough to stay in place but not too tight. I am going to be careful to wash in cold water so they don't shrink (I bought the cotton ones).

Great ideas all!
I've mainly been using cut off socks while at home and flesh colored ace/coban wraps when i'm out. Both are rather boring!
Those arm sleeves look nice and stretchy like they would fit well without being bulky. If I have to keep my PICC much longer I might look into getting a few pairs.

Sadly, the Islamic arm covers I ordered (and am showing off in the picture above), shrank just enough to make them a little uncomfortable to wear over the PICC.
Time to keep looking.
