How does everyone cope with the bone-crushing fatigue prior to your period? This time it has been so horrendous I swear I'd like to melt into the bed if I could.

I become non-functional, very emotional. I have tried various BC pills in the past and I don't take well to synthetic hormones.

More than advice to take this or that is HOW DO YOU COPE? I think I shall go mad if I have to endure this one more cycle...??? [bonk]

I am sorry I don't have an answer, but if your misery loves company, then know you're not alone.

I do sometimes back off my meds (1/2 dose) around that time. I also sometimes feel slight relief from Rx NSAIDs that my LLMD is able to supply for such occasional use.

Other than that, knowing that it is an ordeal of finite length that will pass, and reminding myself of that, also helps.

I haven't tried banging myself on the head with a mallet, but will consider that!

I had to get off BC because the abx were too powerful for them.

I get the tiredness also.

I just deal by sleeping in, pacing myself, and taking it easy.

Listen to your body.

i was the same way.
I ended up going on birth control to smooth out some of the pms issues i was having; the overall extreme physical exhaustion, i would get very irrational -- about a week before my period i would try pushing away the love of my life who has gone to every doctors appmnt with me, etc etc etc

For me, going on the birth control has made a world of difference. I haven't gotten that week of complete exhaustion since i started the pill.

My mood is also more stable.

I didnt want to go on it at first b/c of the abx affecting the absorb. of the estrogen, but it seems to be working just fine.

...just knowing that for ME, the birth control pill is not to be used as birth control, since taking the abx etcetcetc

also, supplements are HUGE!!!

sorry for my rant.

I drink a mixture of red raspberry leaf and nettle infusion- very good for the woman parts.

I buy the herbs bulk, boil a big pot of water- once it boils I throw in a cup of raspberry leaf and 1/2 cup of nettle and turn it off and leave the cover on. I let it steep for 8-12 hours and then strain. Then I put it in a glass jar in the fridge and drink as ice tea. YUMMY.

The raspberry leaf helps with hormones and the nettle reduces the overall bleeding as well as helping with osteo issues.

I NEVER used to have pms before lyme. In fact, I didn't even know what people were talking about. Then after getting sick with lyme and co's I would become SO depressed- I'd have to remind myself that I must be getting my period.

One of the ways I knew I was getting better was when I got my period "out of the blue". I didn't know it was coming because I had no pain or depression or pms to warn me. So really, it has been lyme treatment that has gotten rid of the major pms, but the herbs do help seriously.

Don't buy tbags and then feel like it doesn't work. Making an infusion from loose herbs gets much more of the needed minerals into your system.

Thx everyone for your replies, all well noted! The infusion sounds great, only a tad difficult to find those ingredients but might be well worth it.

Even more than the emotional roller-coaster PMS sends you on as I said is the fatigue ... maybe I will hope it will get better with treatment??
