I have been sick a long time and diagnosed by a ND in March. Have been looking for a LLMD since then. Found Dr. J in PA.

I know the appts are short and want to make the most of it. Is anyone going to that Dr who can help me know how to prepare for the appt - especially the first one. Also, what to expect concerning the use of IV or oral antibiotics (I live about 6 hours from the doctor).

Please note - I posted this under "seeking doctor" and decided that was the wrong place... that's why I have posted it twice. I'm new and just learning to use this site.

Here is some general information:

Making the most of your LLMD visit:

We're glad you found us!!

Could you edit out the city the dr is practicing in? We like to post only the initials and the state. That helps protect our doctors.

Just look for the pencil and pad icon next to the date. Then go in and use your cursor to edit it out.

Thanks and let me know if that makes no sense!!

Welcome wanna dance! Me too!

Glad you found the site! Sorry you have Lyme. But I am pleased you found a LLMD and will be getting help!

As for IV's... it would depend a bit on the way it is administered. Once you know that, maybe we could answer some basic questions for you.

As for oral antibiotics, there are so many and until we know what you are being treated for, it would be hard to suggest much.

You would want to consider a good probiotic with most treatments, so you might want to check that out.

Also reading Dr. Burrascano's Guidelines might give you some additional information.

Look up at the top left corner of the page where the pretty leaves are. See the Online Library link and click it to find his guidelines.

If you need anything, we are here. Hoping you feel better soon!

Thanks for the welcome, Tincup, and your response. I guess at the moment my question about oral vs IV antibiotics has to do with distance from the doctor. I wonder if the doc will say - "if you lived close by I would do IV and that works faster, but we can't do that because you are 6 hours away..." In that case I would consider trying to find a place to stay close by for awhile... (I am desparate to get better). Have you ever heard a doc say anyting like that?

Hi WTD,

I have seen this LLMD (I'm assuming it's the one that's closer to Ohio, I understand that there are 2 in PA). I decided to do a more holistic approach in treatment.

I know when I called Dr. J's office I asked if he does IV and orals. I was told he does both, but always starts with orals first.

One thing I liked about him that I heard from other Lyme patients is that he uses pretty good doses of cyst busting antibiotics...I think it's important to kill the cysts as you are killing the spirochetes. If you need any more info, pm me =)

Take care,
Ocean
