Wow, Maddog, I am so glad you are being treated for C-diff. Take care with that and be sure you get all the treatment needed.

Hi, Maddog -

My daughter, who has also been treated for LD, has had chronic diarrhea for months, and I can't convince her how serious this is (can't imagine why she's decided just to live with it). She refuses to go to doc because she is so sick of tests, and feels they won't be able to figure it out anyway. Can you tell me how your doc diagnosed it was C-diff? Maybe I could convince her to go if she thought there might be a real cure for her.

Thanks so much!

KatieBugsMom

Thanks

Hi KatiebugsMom,I was really having the runs
bad again, like 3 times a day.

It was brown water thats all, everthing just poored right through.

I took in my daily lyme journal, my doctor of 20 years, read it and put me right on the meds for Cdef.

In three days the diareah stoped and has not returned ,my doctor new about all the antibiotics I have been on for years,it just added up.

It has been 7 days since I had direah.

I can't belive it is over ,it is so nice not to be chained to the cammode.

And my regular times are back like before the CDef.

I would love to - but she's turned 18, and my mom power fizzled, and reasoning, pleading, bribery & threats fall on deaf ears . Hoping the new independence will wear off soon.

Glad you are feeling better MadDog. I believe I may have some of the same going on. May I please ask you some questions? Did your stomach hurt at all in the upper part of your stomach? Up high near top part? And did you have bad GERD with it as well? .... How do they test you for it? Do they take a swap at the doc's office? I know so many questions....Thank you .Stay well and take care. ~db

i'll help ya little. my pain is right below my navel, worse on left and goes completely across. course i have diverticulitis and that could be it, but it's the diahrrea that's bad.

maddog is right, i was going brown water at least 10-15 times a day. i couldn't leave the house. beaudreaux butt paste is an absolute must.

and now the nausea -- ugh. the pain is worse from 11 at night to about 4 in the morning and ranges from a 3-4 and has spiked to about an 8 when i went to the er. my inflammation is so bad throughout the colon it showed on the ct. that's why i got in with the gastro so fast.

also i don't have a fever. i've gone up to about 100 but the doc said for adults the fever should go over 101 to be considered "high".

the test has to be done 3 times from what i understand but if the doc suspects it,then they'll put you on flagyl asap. 500 at least 3 or 4 times day. and you must take that florastor.

the test is yucky. you poop in a pail and then put it in tubes, 4 tubes is what i got. take to the lab. which for me is right beside his office but it's still over 20 miles away.

and yep, it can get really nasty so you have to stay on top of it.

if there's anything i can do to help, please let me know.

and get that kid on florastor if nothing else. surely she can just take a pill?

Hi Db
No I didn't have any pain up high it was lower.

This time it was a clinical diagnosis.

Usually they take stool samples.
