Has anyone tried writing a letter to their state congressman asking for help?
My dad wants me to do this. I don't know where to start. I find it difficult to write a simple post here on LN or an email to friends.
But I need help getting my insurance to pay some large claims (for IV therapy) from last spring. They have been tied up in the appeal process since July.
My insurance company keeps sending letters to my doctor asking for more information, more notes, more letters of medical necessity. My doctor doesn't have any new information to send! It's really frustrating.
So, does anyone have any experience with this? How should I go about writing this letter? How much information should I include?
I would greatly appreciate any advice.

I agree with Wizard. You need to contact the "Insurance Police". But I would be sure to write at the bottom "cc: your Congressman" and any others you can think of.
Sometimes people will act when they think their inaction will draw fire.
I've also found that burocracies respond to mounds of paperwork. It's the "squeaky wheel" concept. If you have to, see another LLMD and get that doctor to write letters for you, too.

Did you file a Third Level Appeal through your state Insurance Board? If not, do that. And there is a time limit on when you can do that. Also, contact your state Attorney General and file a complaint, including all relevant info. Put cc's to all people you can think of on all of these complaints.
CALDA (google it for their website) has a fabulous Insurance Issue of their magazine that you can and should order online that goes into everything in great detail.
And also, get an attorney to write a letter to your insurance company threatening them with legal responsibility for your medical state if they don't cover your needed care. Pull out all the stops. These crooks will get away with whatever they can. Don't let them.
And, yes, write your congressman, too. You could also write a new station, and let the insurance company know.
