does anyone have problems with this? i never did when i was younger, but when i think back i have for the last 16 years (which coincidentally is how long i've had lyme, babs and bart).

i talked my LLMD about it and was told sweating is symptomatic of lyme and babs, but not when it's localized under the arms. that is just me, i was told.

since i have found out that i have severely elevated levels of aluminum in my system i can't even use "real" deodorant. Now i am wearing Tom's of Maine and the problem is even worse.

it is such an embarrassing problem and I am ruining some of my tops! any thoughts on this?

i am secretly hoping it is a lyme thing and as i get better the sweating will resolve itself.

thanks!

I'm very chemically sensitive and so can't handle most products.

Someone told me to just use rubbing alcohol, and it seems to work - [Smile]

I was unable to use regular deodorant/ antiperspirant for a couple years due to sensitivities. I tried all the available products in my local health food store. The only one that I liked was a deodorant made by NutriBiotic.

I liked their Mango Melon deodorant. It has a very light fresh smell. You won't notice it once you have it on. (Many others smell too herbally, yuck!)This brand seemed to work the best because it is made with GSE to help kill the bacteria that makes your sweat stink. It is aluminum free so you will still sweat but you won't smell bad!

I bought mine at the local health food store so you might be able to find it locally too. Here's the brand website so that you can know what it looks like: http://www.nutribiotic.com/mango-melon-deodorant.html

As for the sweating, I don't know of anything that will safely and effectively stop it. Even regular antiperspirants only do so much.

If your clothes are staining maybe you should spray them with a laundry pretreatment before throwing them in the hamper. Maybe someone else will have more advice in this area.

I would say this is a Lyme/coinfections symptom. Probably Babesia.

I have had this on and off over the years and it goes away with Babesia treatment.

Now I use "Crystal" natural deodorant to avoid chemicals and I barely perspire.

In the past I would put "clinical" strength deodorant on and still sweat.

Do you know if you have Babesia or Bartonella? Sweating is a symptom of both. Hope is eases up soon!!

thanks for the suggestions!

unsure445, the crystal deodorant has "Potassium Alum" in it. isn't that a form of aluminum?

thanks again!

I have this also but I don't have babs (just bart and very few symptoms of bart). I do have lyme though. I've been told by all 3 of my doctors (llmd, hormone doc and alternative) that they believe it's hormonal....?

I have definitely had a lot of hormonal issues for sure. I think that may be some of it, but I know what does help is DETOXING!! I think it means you are toxic and your body can't keep up.

It's supposed to be a GOOD thing to sweat! I know we don't like it, and I agree it's awful and embarrassing, but it's supposed to be FAR WORSE to not be able to sweat! I feel better when I sweat a LOT, so I may try inducing the sweating (with a FIR sauna or exercise) and see if that lessens it. I'm also focusing on detoxing and hormone replacement. Just some ideas for you! (Green clay smoothies help me)

Good luck! I totally understand. ( :

My daughter also has this problem. We just found out that she has lymes. Sounds like I should test her for the coinfections. Nothing works for her either, hopefully it will go away, but it did start around the rest of her lymes symptoms.

Laura,
I don't think its the same as regular aluminum found in antiperspirint (sp!)/deodorant.

When I would have months of the sweating occurring if I was nervous or even slightly anxious about something it would get so much worse. Embarasing!

But its been so much better w/ treatment.

Good luck! I hope it improves.

I have this and my LLMD said its lyme! It happens out of the blue; and its worse if I am nervous or my brain gets over stimulated.

Your body is telling you something..

Detox detox detox

Wearing antipersperant will stop a natural process.

I can't say it enough - detox. Infrared sauna, body wraps, foot baths, foot detox patches, rebounding.

I have this problem with the underarms...but lately it has been getting better with treatment.

I have had times when it's super bad though. I could only wear white or black shirts since those didn't show all the wetness.

Sometimes it would be smelly too, other times not.

I have found that getting the area dry, then putting tons of baby powder on the area, before putting on a shirt, helps (with no deodorant).

Deodorant and anti-perspirants (the natural ones or the regular commercial brands) make the problem worse for me. They just end up mixing with the sweat and producing a sticky goo under my arms, which gets on my clothes.

Using no deodorant and only baby powder is the way to go. (or sometimes I will use this "tea tree foot powder" from Thursday Plantation). The powder keeps you dry, and that's the most important part. Sometimes you need to apply the baby powder a couple times within a ten minute period, because it'll soak in, then you apply more.

I noticed right when I stopped Mepron, this problem was really bad. So that could have been babesia or Lyme (since some say Mepron has an effect on Lyme?) But I might have also stopped Zithromax at the same time, which could point to Bartonella or Lyme.

I have all three infections, so I'm not sure which one is causing this symptom. But it does seem to be getting better with treatment.

Also, I wouldn't rule out that it could be an autonomic nervous system problem, as a result of the infections. My understanding is the autonomic nervous system controls sweating?

Mine comes in cycles- every 3-4 weeks or so. I am Quest + for Babs WA-1, but am not sure why, after all these years, and with my titers FINALLY dropping after 3 years of Tx, it has suddenly turned very, extra stinky- much more so than before. ??

Stinky = extra funk = detox

Could also be yeast = detox

The skin is our largest detox organ. Once I was unable to sweat any longer, that is when I got ill. Clogging up the pores to prevent the toxins from coming out is not a good thing. The Crystal contains minerals that will eliminate the odor. If you want to get well, consider perspiring a good sign. You will live longer and happier if you get rid of the overall toxic burden. Lyme is not causing it. Toxic overload is causing it.

Hope for smelly urine too - then you start getting on your way to wellness. Let the toxins escape!

Take care.

Instead of using deoderant, I keep baby wipes in my car and use them to wipe my pitts when the stinky sweating begins.

I used to never wear deoderant through high school cause there was no need. since abx that had def. changed. Im thinking it's probably similar to how yeast becomes a problem, being your benificial bacteria that would normally control fungus is absent. could it just be a form of yeast or fungus overgrowth? like athleat's foot? On a side note i can confirm diflucan does not help at all. It's the odor part thats making me think fungal...
