Hi...I was recently diagnosed with Lyme disease and have a few questions. I went through many of the same frustrations I've read about all over getting a diagnosis and finally talked my GP into giving me the test which came back positive.

1. I had/have many symptoms such as numbness in the hands and face, brain fog, vision problems, arthritis in knees and shoulders that at least to me seem like they would be part of more advanced stages of Lyme. Is that necessarily true? And because it seems to have infiltrated my nervous system does that mean it will be harder to treat? I've been taking 100MG of Doxycycline twice a day for about a week now.

2. One of my really annoying symptoms that I don't read much about is an itching in my fingers, toes, nose and eyes. It's not on the actual skin but more inside the tips of my fingers and toes. Has anyone experienced this and found any way to calm it down at all?

Any response, advice etc. is greatly appreciated!

welcome to Lymenet. Are you under the care of a Lyme literate doctor? Have you been tested for co-infections (other disease the tick may carry)?

I have a list of ct llmds & info on each. I'll private message you some info.

Hi, snake! Welcome!!

Sounds like you need an LLMD since you are only taking 200mg a day. Pretty low dose.

You don't necessarily have late stage. Lyme can disseminate rather quickly. How long do you think you've had it??

You can post over in Medical questions next time, so more people will see this!!

and yes, get tested for coinfections. Most of us have them.

glad to have you aboard!! ( but sorry you have to be here!)

Hi Lymetoo,

I have no idea how long to be honest. In October my shoulder really started bothering me and that's when everything started to go downhill. I then had an episode where I was sitting at my computer and my vision went spotty. Next my hand went numb and my face went numb. About a month later that happened again in the exact same sequence. This has happened a total of 4 times. That's when I went to the Dr. and had the catscan, MRI's etc. Then I started to notice brain fog, many more aches and pains and some weird things going on with my vision along with a bunch of other milder symptoms. When I asked the Dr. if among the many tests she gave me she tested for Lyme she said no. On 2/6 she called and told me I tested positive for Lyme. That's been my adventure thus far.

Abosolutely, who knows how long I've had it. I've live in CT all my life. I'm outside all the time and am an avid golfer who hits the ball in the woods a lot [Smile]
