My husband has a co-worker who has tested positive for Lyme in the past. She was treated short term here in our state. This was over two years ago.
She has developed chronic symptoms, particularly pain, fatigue, and heart problems (which I feel are AT LEAST complicated by Lyme and possible co's).
She has been hospitalized several times now with cardiac issues that they really can't explain; she has BP problems and has had some stints put in since this all started.
She asked her cardio docs if Lyme could cause or complicate these issues, and they said no way of course.
My husband and her co-workers are very worried about her because they know what I have had to deal with.
She is on the verge of being disabled by this and has not ever even seen an LLMD; it was a local physician who did short term treatment on her.
I, for one, have cardiac issues from this.
I don't think she really understands how devastating this is/can be, and of course we don't have TBI's here in our state (joke), so the fact that she even got short term treatment is a miracle.
Will some of you please send me your experiences/stories, even if they are brief? You can even make them anonymous if you want. If you are more comfortable, you can pm me.
We are desperate to get her the help that she needs and deserves. My husband and some of her co-workers are even willing to take her to an LLMD if that is what it takes.
Thanks,

One viewing of "Under Our Skin" should be enough for one to consider looking at the possiblity of lyme & company.
You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink the water.

you can get a horse to drink...it's called "give it a salt lick".

I don't think it is a true case of denial because she is asking her docs about the possibility of Lyme causing her issues, and she is simply beieving what they are telling her. I just feel it necessary to impress upon her how many of us are out here suffering long term ill effects of this....

I eventually got my Lyme diagnosed, and correctly treated, because a friend just kept bringing it up.
I thought it wasn't a big deal, and my doctor said he tested me for it, so it couldn't be that. I believed him.
After a year of being treated for everything under the sun, and getting so much worse, she said (again) "You know, your symptoms sound a lot like what I had. Maybe you should see my doctor." I figured I didn't have anything to lose at that point.
And wouldn't you know it. Lyme disease.
