I'm so scared that I'm going to lose my job over a stupid little bug bite! I am a 28yo mother of 2 boys ages 6 and 4. I have been employed with the same company since Highschool.. 11 yrs now.I work with Gero-psych patients 40 hrs a week and it's hard on me both mentally and pysically.I think it's even harder when your co-workers are so ignorant on the illness, and istead of me always being the go to girl, I'm now the can't do girl. I have missed so much work since last November. Either from calling out, being late or even leaving work early from pain or another migraine. I love my job and I really don't want to leave but I don't know what to do. I have always been such an active person. I love the outdoors fishing, boating, hiking, playing ball, and yes even frog hunting with the kids. I guess thats why I'm in this situation. THIS SUCKS!!!

i feel for you. i am in the same boat. ia have been at my job for 10 years now. i manage a retail store. i can no longer function as the old me. i feel as i am letting everyone down both at work and at home. i have a district manager who is trying to force me out the door now. in my company, in my position if you can't give 150%, you are of no good. i judt got the word from from my LLMD that he would support me to go out on disability. my pain doc has had me out of work for weeks/months at a time this past two years so i am certian that when i see him this week he will also agree to support my disability. i just don'y know what to do. either i try to file for my disability on the salary that i make now, or wait and possibly lose my position and have a much lower salary and still most likely have to go out or even worse face losing my job all together. i am just not mentally and physically able to continue. my whole life is falling apart. anxiety and depression are becoming worse by the day. there are days when i feel that my family would be much better if i could just let go. i am at my lowest point ever. i know exactly how you feel. i too miss the my husband and our hunting fun.

Brandi,
It really sounds like a break is in order. I;m sure optimistic is right and that you will find that you are entitled to something.

It's worth the time & trouble to look into it.

After 11 years you should know who you need to go to for reliable information.

Good luck, and don't let the worry over this consume you.

A lot of places are required to offer leave under the FMLA (I think it's Family and Medical Leave Act?).

I just had to fill out paperwork for it. You don't have to go on leave completely, if you don't need to either. I'm able to cut down to four days a week, to allow for my doctor visits and the home health nurse visits. And if I do have to miss work due to symptom flare-ups, I'm covered under that.

It basically protects your job, while you're sick. I hated having to do it, but I need to get better. Usually human resources can help you out with that.

don't forget the americans with disabilities act. it will ensure that you are not being discriminated against because you have lyme or any other illness.

it's important to protect your rights.
