Hi Friends!! My big day is today (19th) and thank you very much!! It warms my heart and puts a big smile on my face to read your bday wishes!!
ANd yes, cluck cluck to all of you too
Can I tell you about my day so far? Only because it's been a wild ride!
First thing this morning, I went with my mom to my daughter's school, where my mom gave her testimony to the middle schoolers during their chapel.
My mom told the kids how God has used her entire life, the good AND the bad, to prepare her to be used by Him for His purposes.
She recalled her German family living for generations in Hungary and the hard life they had,
her father being called to fight for Germany in WWII, being send immediatley to the Russian front and becoming a prisoner of war in Siberia,
her mother leaving everything she had to travel to Germany with her 6 children and pregnant with my mom only to be sent to a German refugee camp for 2 years where each family was given only 1/2 a loaf of bread and a bag of sugar a week to live on,
how my mother and GI father met and married,
how she left everything she knew and went to live in the CA redwoods where she didn't know the language, the currency, the customs, and couldn't even see the sun,
her deep depression of 7 years...
you get the picture! (all this in 25 minutes, can you believe it?!)
And in hindsight how she is able to look back and see how He used EVERYTHING in her life, the good and the bad (even the war!), to prepare her to do His work today.
It was such a wonderful thing for me to hear about my grandmother and my mother and all the hardships they went thru and how they still found God's truth and beauty in it all.
ANd of course it was an encouragement to me to have confirmation that this past year of terrible illness was for a reason and will also be used for good.
I got home at noon today and within 10 minutes my phone rang. It was my favorite cousin in Germany! This was a real treat for me as I rarely talk with my family over there. I thought maybe she had called to wish me a HB too... but no...
She had called me tell me she's been sick since November. As she described her symptoms to me, I had to sit down. I do believe she too has the four letter word.
But that's another thread. I will note her symptoms and ask for your opinions. Maybe I'm just going crazy...

17hens that must have been one of your most special birthdays ever. A birthday that you will never forget.
Your mom should write a book. WOW! I was blessed just to read the "excerpts". Her theme of how God has used everything in her life, good and bad, to be used for His purpose fits with something I like to say (in fact shared it just a few minutes ago on another Lymenet thread)
I like to say that my God is so Almighty Big that He is able to make all things Alrighty! And He does!!!! (See Romans 8:28)
More blessed days ahead!!

Hi 17Hens--
Hope you had a wonderful birthday!
We missed you at the Support Group (at least I don't think you were there--I was talking the whole evening with some people I didn't see at the first meeting).
Dr. S. will be speaking next month, so I hope you can come...
Again, hope you had a great day!
