I thought the McDonald guy died....for some reason or other. I was also disappointed.
I'm sure the IDSA gestapo pounced on him like a rat on a cheetoh....!

His papers are published. they can be found on the NCBI site. From what I have observed, it appears that one of his colleagues are doing quite similar, if not the same work... on the biofilms that is.
i had corresponded with him via email a few times. he always got back to me very quickly.. then, i never got a response from him. ...it was very strange to me..
I agree with LymeToo.
...aaaaaaand i'm a little upset with myself for not getting a picture with him and his autograph ((sigh))
I DO hope he is doing well! Great man!

What Boxermom said is correct. I was heart-broken about this! He is an incredible man, both scientifically and personally (I'd met him at the premiere of Under Our Skin, and saw him present at a conference).
But in May at the U of New Haven Lyme conference, he was given a lifetime achievement award and was there.
Hopefully, he finally got some treatment, but I don't know. Totally sad. Actually, I think he must have eventually gotten some treatment, as originally he was in the hospital.
And, yes, it did look like he was maybe doing the research without protection. Plus he lives on Long Island (a friend calls it Lyme Island!).
