Good that this is being made public. So sad to see another lyme doctor forced out of business.
Can someone let us know what was said?

The article (news cast) I am responding to really sucked. I think this is the one you all are talking about?
My response to the report (edited a good bit here)...
"Controversy Of Treating Lyme Disease Arises In TX"
I'm afraid the comments that were made in your report upset patients because first of all they are untrue and secondly, they are sending the wrong message to the public about a very devastating disease.
Having a so-called expert such as Norgard making the comments he did shows he has an agenda, like a handful of his colleagues who have recently been "busted" for illegal practices.
Attorney General Richard Blumenthal (CT) determined in 2008 that the IDSA Lyme Disease Guideline panel, ``...undercut its credibility by allowing individuals with financial interests -- in drug companies, Lyme disease diagnostic tests, patents and consulting arrangements with insurance companies -- to exclude divergent medical evidence and opinion''.
[Norgard has spirochetal-related patents.]
That lengthy investigation and resulting legal action should have eliminated the ongoing practice of IDSA members like Norgard running to the media with statements that ooze personal bias, are based on revenge, are not scientifically based, and that are riddled with conflicts-of-interest.
Norgard, however, continues to beat the proverbial dead horse and still supports the tainted IDSA treatment Guidelines that recommend 2-3 weeks of antibiotics, which they say cures all (and Norgard isn't even a treating doctor).
Please take a quick look at the brief summary (comparison) below from his comments in the report you did, and his own professional website.
```````````````````````````````````````
Norgard said in your report- "There is no evidence to support the fact that there is such a thing as chronic Lyme disease," said Dr. Michael Norgard, chair of the Microbiology Department at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas."
He said on his professional webpage- "Syphilis and Lyme disease are chronic, complex infections caused by the spirochetal bacteria Treponema pallidum and Borrelia burgdorferi, respectively."
```````````````````````````````````````` In your report it said... "Norgard and other infectious disease doctors nationwide are convinced the disease should be treated with short-term antibiotics, no longer than three weeks. "
[Note- he is not an infectious disease doctor. He has a PhD in microbiology and he is a member of the Infectious Diseases Society of America- like you might be a member of the AAA Auto Club or the National Wildlife Foundation.]
He said on his webpage- "Little is known about the virulence factors or mechanisms of immune responses operative in the immunopathogenesis of syphilis and Lyme disease."
[How can treatment be recommended or not recommended when he admits they don't even know what is causing the chronic problems?]
`````````````````````````````````` In your report he said.. "They're subjecting their patients to false hopes," he said. "They're not really getting to the real ideology of the underlying illness."
On his web page he states- "Structural and functional studies of selected integral membrane proteins are underway to understand how the peculiar membrane biology of T. pallidum and B. burgdorferi contributes to the host-parasite relationship, tissue dissemination, and immune evasion."
``````````````````````````````
The report you did states- "Norgard, who specializes in Lyme disease, said doctors who treat the disease with ongoing and aggressive antibiotics are irresponsible."
His webpage states Norgard is a PhD, not a medical doctor.
THEREFORE- Norgard should not be advising anyone how to treat or not treat humans with a "complex" infectious disease. He works on tiny organisms in a lab, at best, not on humans in the clinical setting.
I do not personally know the doctor who had to give up his license to stay true to his principles, but I very much respect him for his stand and know he was dedicated to his patients.
However, because of his decision another crisis is upon us and those who are sick will suffer more now. We will have to find a doctor willing and able to treat all of his patients at a time when the Lyme-treating doctors are being brutally targeted by those with self-serving agendas.

i read it too, paul.
very discouraging. i really wish he would have fought this. i know he had hundreds of lyme patients.
unfortunately, it didn't give us an opportunity to voice our concerns about the way we are treated. if notified, i am sure many of us would have supported him.
well i hope whoever did that to him about the vitamins is happy.
i'm just in a bad enough mood to say "well, at least you got what you deserve -- lyme and no doctor.."
grrrr

I contacted Mr. Jack Fink personally. Here is what I said to him:
To Mr. Jack Fink, You may wish to follow-up further on the Controversy Of Lyme Disease. Should you choose to read a small portion of the article I'm providing a link for, I think you will be persuaded to do so.

MB,
I assume that Jack Fink is the husband that caused this horrible mess. Good luck trying to convince someone like that. But good to try, I guess. Even though it sounds like it's too late.
It's terrible that the dr didn't chose to fight this. The grief that his accepting defeat causes everyone in the state and surrounding area is incalculable. Plus, it just strengthens the TX MB and other MB's in their resolve to take the LLMD's down. Sad beyond belief.
When in the world is there going to be enough public outcry to stop this?? A big part of the problem is, of course, that Lymies are so sick that they don't have a lot of energy and health to fight this stuff. Unlike HIV positive people, who have more of a window of strength.

Wilson can't afford to do it at this point in his career. The financial fallout would be huge. He's not going to pull a Dr. Jones.
