Can't figure out how to do it. I see the stars but not how to rate it myself. And who the heck is giving it over 600 likes, thumbs up. Must be a concerted effort by Eddie and the gang, and I do mean gang.

This article is garbage. I did my part. I just don't understand why people are so ignorant.

- The same article, same photo, appeared in MANY newspapers around the country. LA Times, Baltimore Sun, South Florida Sun-Sentinel, etc. and many bloggers are shouting down lyme patients with glee.
To see the publication footprint /reach, search through Google, Yahoo or Bing, the title: "Chronic Lyme Disease: a dubious diagnosis"

And, on the flip side, thank goodness for Lorraine Johnson and her ability to write swiftly and so accurately:
LYMEPOLICYWONK: Chicago Tribune article. Is it journalism? Call it what you will--

- It's really too bad this is in papers coast to coast right before the holidays. I'm sure my family members would rather believe the IDSA and when a full article campaign calls lyme patients nut cases, this is going to add much sorrow to many trying to create strong family relationships (despite a mysterious illness) during this special time.
Big Sigh! -

Here in PA, there are those who believe such an article was published in the middle of winter for the sole purpose of discrediting anyone in opposition to the new lyme vaccine that's coming out in January.

Seems like you can go back multiple times and click the star. It's down to 1 yellow star now.

If you contact these authors, be sure to be professional and say nothing that will cause you or us problems. Hard, I know, but got to be done that way.

I have been thinking about this.
I honestly don't think that anyone from the "other side" or from the newspaper is going to change their mind based on ANYTHING we say....
....the only thing I think we could really do, that would "affect" (affect either through thought, action, monetary, emotion, etc) a newspaper, is to threaten boycotting this paper (whichever one you are speaking to, I realize there are many that printed the article) and any organizations closely tied to them, and say that you are encouraging those in your support groups, your family, your friends, and your associates to do the same.
If I worked for the paper, that is really the only thing that would make me think twice about what I had published....the fear of backlash (monetary) from offending a large group of people, and the people that care about them.
I think if a lot of patients post comments saying they are boycotting the Chicago Tribune (both the printed version and by not visiting their website anymore), that would make them think, "yikes, what did we do?" Also, they will be less likely to ever publish something like that again.
When you think about it, by going over there and commenting, we are just giving their website more hits, which is good for their ad revenue, right? Don't newspapers like it when people are reading their articles? I feel like we should threaten to boycott, and make sure they know it. If enough people say that, that would be scary.
Newspapers sponser all kinds of local events because they want a positive public persona. We should make them feel like this crossed the line, and we are no longer interested in anything they touch, even the things they sponser.
I am actually not THAT upset/shocked about this article. I just feel like it's what happens. This is how this controversy works. And when patients start talking about conspiracy theories and things like that, it gives the people that think we are crazy, more fuel to add to the fire. So I'm just not surprised something like this came out.
But my two cents is that the best way to take action is threaten to boycott.....because honestly, they don't care about anything else. My two cents.
Also, I think knocking the article down to 1 star is a great idea. So maybe I'm off topic here, sorry. Just posting my idea in the first Chicago Tribune topic I saw over here.

This article is so poorly written, it seems that it's on purpose. Why on earth would they mention deer antler therapy for ALS in a Lyme article? It's irrelevant. It's like this article was written by a child.
Some have mentioned a vaccine coming out in January? Is this really true? If so, I think this must be a publicity campaign to discredit chronic Lyme patients. From what I have heard the vaccine does not work on chronic Lyme, only acute Lyme, so to make their billions, we can't exist.
Many bloggers are writing level-headed posts on the topic. It's a good idea because some of our blogs come up on Google searches.

sixgoofy - just read through your blog and your daughter's - well done, is all I can say! Thanks to both of you for speaking up -
And also I think it's important for people to know there's many things to try for healing, and that you found success with one of them -

Here is a nice twist to the ugly that the other side produces. This time someone is standing up for us in a Journal.
