Hi I need advice I was not able to work because of what I and my doctors thought was Multiple Sclerosis. I did get my disability and that is what I am living on now. The question I have is I got a postive Lyme test and don't think I have MS. I am starting to feel a little better but definitly not ready to go back to work yet. I don't want to lose my SSDI but I don't want to get in trouble for not telling Social Security my new diagnosis. If anyone has gone through this please let me know what to do. I know I have worked for my disability but I don't want to get in any trouble with the govt. Thanks for any feedback you can give me.

As I understand it, you get SSDI based on your disabilities, not your diagnosis, so I would think this would not affect you.

Seems to me that the thing that would stop your disability check would be when you are well and able to work again.

Connie, on this forum, is a SSDI advocate. Why don't you send her a pm and ask this question, if she doesn't see the post and reply. Here is her profile: http://flash.lymenet.org/scripts/ultimatebb.cgi/profile/191

But you are right in being cautious. You don't want to be in the position of having to repay the government.

Do proceed cautiously when you are well enough to return to work! Make SURE you are well enough!
