Gee, I sure hope the IDSA and CDC read this and suddenly become the patient's new best friends and admit they were wrong all these years. Wouldn't that be amazing.

This may look silly, but it's actually a good PR move. Think of MLK in the 1960s. People were getting marginalized, brutalized and attacked by racists, and his response was consistently: "I want to be friends with you guys." If ILADS says they want to talk, they appear to be the reasonable ones. Once the IDSA refuses, they will look rigid and inflexible. At least....to people who are paying attention.
