No idea on the blendtec, but I know if you have a note from a doctor that says a Vitamix will help you get the nutrition you need they will sell you one at a reduced price. They also have a payment plan available for the same. We love our vitamix, if you'd be interested in that brand.
I know this because I called for a friend in need.

I will chime in and say Vitamix is wonderful. I am notorious for burning out blenders and my vitamix is going strong still after 2 years of e/o day use. I make smoothies as it is the only thing I can 'eat' much of the time...

I could not afford the Vitamix either. I went to a family member asking them if they would pay half, and I thank God they said yes.
A gracious friend put up the other half trusting me to make payments. So maybe this is another way that would help you. I'm not on the site very much - just happened to see your post.
I already have a juicer and am using the blender for just greens since I am overcoming fungus problems. Trusting everything will work out for you.
