Perhaps the Site Administrators would consider amending the Terms of Use to clearly state, in a numbered list, any and all grounds for banning a member.

It would not be much of a stretch to then keep an open log detailing each member banned, the date they were banned, and which of the Terms of Use were violated, and the date of any reinstatement.

A policy such as that would go a long way towards avoiding a controversy such as the one now swirling around the banning of Camp Other.

I see that the thread discussing the banning of Camp Other has been arbitrarily closed, and I find closing this thread as puzzling as a member being banned without explanation.

Does closing the Camp Other thread imply that that subject is taboo and that any member broaching the subject or showing support for Camp Other also risks being banned without explanation?

I reviewed the thread that many believe was the reason for his being banned, Past medical testing (crimes) on humans which for some reason was allowed to remain in the Medical Questions forum when clearly it should have been moved to either, General Support or even, Off Topic. I saw nothing that was a clear violation of the Terms of Use.

I have also reviewed the Terms of Use several times and I remain puzzled at this members banning as I don't see any violations of the Terms of Use by this member since I've been posting these last few weeks.

This action gives one an uneasy feeling, as Chiquita Incognita implied, and makes one wonder about hedging on ones opinion for fear of being arbitrarily banned without explanation.

Rather than the tactic of banning and closing threads without explanation perhaps the site Administrators would consider a different approach, one more open and transparent, one that would make members more comfortable with site policy.

IMO, it is a privilege to be on this site. It has helped so many people and continues to do so. As with any site, moderators and administrators have the enormous task of ensuring that the terms of use agreement are upheld.

They give their free time and energy to this cause. I'm sure there are things that they address in confidence to those that may break those rules. In the name of rights to privacy, it's not for everyone to know the reasons why.

I personally know that there is a process and if anyone breaks the rules, warnings are usually given. After that I believe they have the ability to do what is right in accordance to those rules.

Why must we question their judgement, when they have devoted so much time and effort to keep this board running and helping so many people?

ALL MODERATORS AND ADMINISTRATORS HAVE PM'S. Threads like these are inappropriate on the public board. If you have something to say, say it privately.

Closing this thread just as the other has been closed.

Thank you, lululymemom, great explanation. I couldn't have said it better myself.
