Hello Members, Does anyone have any information from the Virginia Board of Health stating that Lyme can be a serious dibilitaing disease?
Even any recent newspaper articles would help.

Long story short, I`ve been out on total disability since 11/07. I was approved for SSI benefits and a very small disability retirement from my employer.... the Federal Government.

I was infected on my Federal Government job years ago, I have an approved Federal Wokers` Compensation claim for Lyme, Babesiosis, Ehrlichiosis and Bartonella. They would not approve the co-infection Mycoplasma Fermentans, I wonder why?

I have been fighting the Department of the Navy for the last 3 years for disability compensation. The thing is the U.S. Department of Labor keeps on sending me to IDSA ducks for evaluation and pay them handsomly for doing so.

On Tuesday 3/15 I have to see another IDSA duck in Virginia who`s speciality is HIV. I did my homework, he is not a LLMD. I would like to present him with any information from Virginia stating that Lyme and Co. can be totally disabling.

I have an attorney who is representing my case, my case has went as far as a hearing in Florida. I have approved medical thru the (DOL) Department of Labor but no compensation for the last 19 years of dealing with tick borne.

The hearing rep from Florida has given this IDSA doctor the opening to strip me of my approved claims for tick borne and also my medical benifits, like it never happened!

The 1st IDSA duck they sent me to stated he doubted I ever had Lyme, even with all the positive Elisia, Western Blot and PCR DNA tests from the last 19 years in his hands and he had the nerve to write that in his report to the DOL.

I recently found a newspaper article from The Hook in Virginia dated 3/8/11 stating cases are rising in VA. and that Lyme Disease could lead to permanent neurological and joint damage. This will help, I hope but if I can present him with more info, the merrier!

If anyone from VA. has any information about how serious tick borne is, can you please send me the link to the information. Any information will be greatly appreciated, this is not about money, this is trying to set a precident.

For if anyone in the Federal Government who was infected or will be infected on the job they will not have to deal with this torture. That is what it feels like, the DOL try to force you to give up or die, what ever comes first. If anyone can help may God Bless you. Be well all and wish me luck. POP

Hello TC, Lymetoo & Colleenie, Thank you guys for your support and information. Sorry it took a bit to get back, started back on ABX Monday after a year off, I had quite the bad week.

The visit with the IDSA duck went as I thought it would, I asked the questions first this time and I received the answers I knew I would hear.

It was like he read me the IDSA guidelines from the book, treats his Lyme patients for 28 days and in some rare cases a little more treatment, sound familiar?

I told this duck that I had multiple EM rashes on my back in 1992 before I went to a doctor, tested positive for Lyme on the (ELISA) believe it or not. I was then treated with 60 days of Amox, retested 6 months later after my right collapsed, the Elisa test was negative that time and I was told I was cured.

I told him 8 months later I would be bed ridden for 2 weeks with a severly swollen knee and a 103 degree fever. I went to a NJ LLMD when I was able to walk again and was placed on IV Rocephin for 28 days.

The PICC line broke on the 19th day, almost bled to death at night. Had to be rushed to the ER for surgery, another Lyme test (Western Blot) would be negative and I was told I was cured again.

I told the IDSA so called doctor that at that time I surpassed the IDSA`s 28 day treatment for Lyme, I then asked him why, without being reinfected again would Lyme come back with a vengence 6 years later (1999).

I then asked him why (without being reinfected) would I test positive for Lyme Disease over and over again by PCR DNA, I asked him why I would then test positive for Babesiosis by PCR DNA, my first co-infection.

I would then test CDC positive for Lyme via Western Blot 10 years later (2002) to the month of my initial infection, on that same test I tested positive for exposure to Ehrlichiosis meaning at one time it was present in my blood, I asked him to explain.

I then asked him to explain why I would test positive for Bartonella (2008) Fry labs and then asked him to explain why they would find Mycoplasma Fermentans via a PCR DNA aspiration (MDL labs) from a Lymph node in my neck that had to be removed.

This IDSA duck was presented with all of my files from the (DOL) Department of Labor that spanded from 1992 till present including all my positive test results, reports from my LLMD`s from New Jersey, South Carolina and North Carolina and his answer to all of this.........

He stated that "he was not buying into those test results, that they were not accurate and that I must have some kind of immune disorder", sound familiar again.

Oh, but he told me that he felt sorry for me that I have indured so much pain and hardship in the last 19 years but he did not believe it was from chronic Lyme.

So after he writes his report to the DOL they will propably strip me of my claim for tick borne diseases and stop paying for my medical treatment. Then they will ask if I want to appeal this decision.

I told this duck when I filed for disability my ex wife filed for divorce, I lost my house but the kind judge gave me all the over the limit credit cards to keep.

At that time I had no income coming in, I told him I had 3 choices. Live in the gutter with my Daughter with my antibiotics of corse but no compensation. Move to Germany where my oldest Brother was living or move to N.C. with an old friend that was willing to take me in.

The choice was obvious, the old friend was my former high school sweetheart I now call my Wife. She has been behind me all through this ordeal both emotionally and financially.

Here is what makes no sense, I was approved for SSI benefits on my 1st try, I was approved for a very small disability retirement thru my direct workplace which is the Federal Government. Why is it 2 Federal entities approved my disability and not the 3rd.

It`s because the DOL supposed to pay you at a higher rate, that`s why they try to break you. They have done that financially, I had to file for bankruptcy in 2008. I`ve been trying to keep pace with my attorney but if this goes to another appeals hearing I will not be able to afford it.

This attorney told me they would work with me till we got this resolved, now he`s looking for something I don`t have, money. How far do you go? When do you say enough is enough?

Fighting tick borne disease is a battle itself, it took down a former co-worker and friend of mine 5 years ago. Seems the more I stress the worse my condition gets.

My Wife has told me for my healths sake to stop the fight, I told her I`ve been fighting tick borne and the DOL for the last 19 years and I find it hard just to say the he_ _ with it.

I tried using my Congressman down here with no sucsess, I tried the same thing when I was living back in N.J. with the same results.

I told my attorney the only way we are going to win my disability case is if we can select our choice of a doctor, one who knows of the diseases, one who is not associated with the IDSA.

I am gratful that the DOL are/were paying for my meds but if they shut my claim down my insurance carrier stated they will not pay for any ABX because I was treated for Lyme back in 1993, crazy but true.

My Wife wrote Obama`s Wife about my case with the DOL, be a miracle if we hear back. Sorry for the long post people, I know were all in the same boat but it is the Government who tries to keep Lyme and Co. swept under the carpet.

It`s the trickle down effect, 1st the CDC, then the NIH, FDA, IDSA then the DOL and on and on. Everyone profits from our illness. I pray every day that the good Lord will expose the truth some day, that no one has to suffer and die from these diseases on account of so called power and greed.

I`m leaving the rest up to the big man, I did all the leg work I could, it`s all in his hands now. Thanks again for all the info and support guys, Colleenie, I will join the military web site when I find time this week.

I may not post very often, but I do check the boards every day waiting for the truth to come out. To all on the board I wish everyone be well and keep fighting, we have too, it`s the only way the IDSA will be exposed for the frauds they are. God Bless the Lyme community. POP
