"I've got to admit it's getting better, a little better all the time..."
At my last LLMD visit my doctor was shocked by how rapidly I am improving. He has been treating very aggressively with quite a large cocktail of drugs and it seems to be doing the trick.
I started treatment in October so it has been about 6 months. When I started, the doctor warned me that it might take years because I have had Lyme disease & co. for 20 years, almost my entire life.
I used to have near-constant pain in all my joints, and I didn't see any improvement in the first 4-5 months of treatment, but now the pain is much less frequent. My knees still hurt often but my ankles, wrists, elbows, and jaw haven't bothered me in almost a month. And I had a 2-week period with no pain of any kind. That was the first and only time I've been pain-free for so long since I was a baby.
Not trying to brag, I just wanted to share how hopeful I am. I expect there will be good and bad days and I can expect to keep going through cycles of pain, but the improvement I've seen this past month feels like nothing short of a miracle. And I had been VERY discouraged previously after seeing no change for months.
So, hang in there! And if you are trying to decide between an aggressive plan of attack versus a more traditional lower-dosage treatment, I would vote for the aggressive track. This thing is hard to beat-- as we all know-- so my personal opinion is that it's better to bring out the big guns.
Good luck to everyone in your recovery!
