I'm new at this. Could somebody give me a breakdown of typical costs by an average month -- getting started, then once established?
Is it true that Medicaid (I live in MD) and/or Medicare A,B,and/or D will cover cost of meds (even at the high doses needed)?
I could get into a study at NIH (Nat'l Institute of Health), but using their standards of care for the disease, I should already be cured by the 4 wks on doxycycline that I took for a sinus infection last fall.
I will have to beg for help, but wanted to see for how much.

Yes, your problem will be finding a lyme doctor who will take you.
The best lyme doctors don't take insurance. And finding a lyme doctor who takes Medicare is virtually impossible. I know nothing about Medicaid.
I can only think of possibly one lyme doctor in Maryland who will take a person with Medicare. That doc is definitely not the best. But, he may be your only option.
Send me a private message if you want the name. Then, you could call the office and find out if he will take you.

I just tallied up what I am spending every month. I do not have any insurance. And my LLMD is also a LAND, so my supplements are very extensive. I take a LOT of pills every day. Between my supplements, antibiotics, and monthly visit to the doc, I am spending about$2000 a month. This does not include labwork and I am not on IV antibiotics. I hope this helps put things in perspective for you a little bit.

I have found that the best financial strategy is to figure out your bare bones budget, without Lyme treatment and see how much extra you have to spend.
You could spend thousands per month, if you have it, but you can also put together a protocol that you can afford and prioritize.
I have found it helpful to have a monthly figure also, when I go to the doc, so I can tell them how much we have to work with.
We have refinanced our house, used retirement money, been gifted money from relatives, used interest-free credit cards. Also, we had a friend raise money for us from other friends and relatives for a specific need. You will really need to be resourceful and determined.
