Nicole, I am not sure what is happening to you but I tried doxy and thought I would lose my mind. I cried like a hysterical person.

Now even on low doses of abx I have anxiety, fear depression and afraid to leave the house.

I wish I had an answer but I don't. I have been up since 3 am knowing I am going crazy.. Its worse than the lyme symptoms or this may be the worst of symptoms. I took a xanax and trying to get control of myself by coming here.

All I can do is sympathize ..My head feels so weird and when I look at me its not me I see. I have aged 20 years in the past one. This is no way to live. I am sorry if I am being negative but I so can relate to what you are going through.

Supplements haven't helped ..I am a real mess..

Prayers for you

Nicole2011 & phyl6648

Anxiety, depression, panic attacks etc. are some of the worst symptoms one can have, lyme or no lyme.

It controls your entire life/wellbeing - We're all here for you!

In my opinion, as hard as it sounds, you need to keep active. You have to keep yourself busy, workout, walk, clean the house, I'm sure you get the idea.

The most important thing is, work with your doctors. I've been there, most of us have. I was in this state for over (2) years, with no relief. I still have all these symptoms from time to time. I know for a fact, keeping yourself busy, and exercising does help.

Sometimes it's from the meds, sometimes it from the diseases, and sometimes it's both.

I can tell you it does get better, I know it's hard, but remember, were ALL here for you.

Keep posting - and try and keep up with your exercise (what ever you're capable of) and keep up with your sleep!!!

I hope you have both have a good day, and are feeling better very soon!

Thanks Steve, I try to stay active but my body is so weak. I have been this way for years off and on it just keeps getting worse.

I appreciate your encouragement but today I feel hopeless but I keep saying this to shall pass.

If I go off all meds and supplements it lets up.. So discouraged.

So sick of living in fear of this and that..I broke down if front of my grandchildren and daughter and told them I couldn't be there for them for now.. Now the guilt is rolling in. I do want to keep the little one and be there for my family but for now I can't.

This thread is connected to the one I already answered, just so you're aware. The symptom increase is highly likely to be caused by the Doxycycline and it's effects on the infection.

Taking a break and then coming back to it (as your LLMD suggested) should help. You'll know if they stop happening within a few days 3-5 days or so.

Sounds like you definitely could benefit from some anti-depressants. And no, doxy does not cause anxiety/depression

Yes, I agree.. Can't take much more of this.. I have xanax and now the AD route. I think the anxiety and depression comes from the inner ear disorder now is lyme the cause of my ear problems that cause the anxiety / depression, off balance, vertigo and the horrible ringing.. Its driving me mad. Whatever I have to have something for it.

Nicole, google doxy as anxiety/depression is a side effect in some .. My pharm. agreeded but Cipro is the worse to cause anxity, panic etc.

I know it caused me to have terrible anxiety. That is just me most take it with no side effects what so ever. Wish I was one ..

Doxy seems to affect everyone a little differently.

And yes, some do complain of anxiety & panic attacks.

Keep plugging at it. This is a disease in which you get WORSE before you get better

does that mean that youre worse for just a week and them BAM....you get better. NO. this is the type of disease were you get worse for WEEKS AND MONTHS. before you REALLY start to feel better. You might have some days where you start to feel a bit better than BAM. you herx again. but keep at it. The more you keep going. the more you keep killing.

remember to detox. detoxing is 50 percent. it might not AWLWAYS make you feel better but its important regardless. you need to get the dead bacteria toxins out, in order for you to feel any better.

That being said. if you really are herxing HARD and cant handle it. ask your doc to lower your dose for a bit to make it endurable

KEEP PRESSING ON!

I'm sorry sweetheart. This pains my heart because I know what you're going through. For me, backing down usually works but I always feel like I'm taking two steps forward, then one step back. However, when it's bad enough... I simply have to.

Herxing anything is rough but brain/mental stuff is just so terrifying. I'm still in the middle of it myself. Not much relief but I keep plugging away.

I know there are some who say to just push through the terrible herx and some who say to back down some --- you have to do what you and your doctor decide is best for you.

For me, my doctor and I have both agreed to give me a small break when the brain stuff gets so bad that it gets dangerous (like when I feel drugged, confused... etc... and I'm the stay at home mom of 3, so I need my brain on board with me lol).

HUGS!

i was getting them really bad also. What I did was go on minocyline really slow. I opened up the capsule poured half out, then took the pill.

I gradually worked my way up to a higher dose carefully doing the same thing each time. I am feeling so much better now, and you will too.

I don't know if this will ehlp, but it sure helped me. And... I can tell you my panic attacks were so bad i thought I was going to go crazy.

Now, I'm back going to stores, etc.

I hope you feel better soon. I know how horrible that feels.

Hi Nicole. I know this is coming a little late, but I wanted to add something.

My daughter has had severe anxiety and depression from treatment. Because she is so young, they won't give her xanex or anything like that.

He has her taking Gaba and L-Theanine. It takes a little longer, but it's really working.

The plus side is that you can go to your local nutrtion store and pick some up. I buy mine from vitacost.com because it's so much cheaper there.

I hope you are doing better now.

If the high doses of ab's are the culprit, it is a sure sign you are battling lyme. It is true that all with lyme have experienced it.My llmd regrets but says necesary to make me worse to make better. If stay on doxy more than a couple of days I think I am having a near death experience.Do let your doctor know what you are going through. Most won't put you through more than you can stand and you will still be getting treatment. It is hard in the middle of a panic attack to think"this will pass" but it will. It always helps to have a hand to hold.If you don't have one right now, keep posting, posting, posting and think of us as a hand to hold. You are not going crazy, your body is fighting lyme disease. Right there with you girl!

I'm herxing right now with doxycycyline trying to calm down a mycoplasma pneu. infection. Doctor said I could ramp up, and since I've taken doxy 200 BID when Lyme was acted, that's how I started.

After 3 doses, I had a crying breakdown. I couldn't sleep all night. I backed down from the doxy and was doing better. Then I tried 200mg instead of 100 mg this morning. OOO baby! Ouch!

I used to tolerate doxy pretty well, but I guess I have another infection it's working strong on. I'll had to back down to keep sane.

Keep the herxing tolerable. Drink fresh lemon or lime water and decaf tea. Activated charcoal (2 capsules away from abx) is helpful as well.

I get them really bad also. Try rescue remedy spray. It works instantly. You may have to repeat it, but for me, it does work.

I was at Michael's Craft Shop. It got me through the register!
