Posting the notes Sonya provided from Dr. B's presentation again as I don't know about you but I still haven't been able to read them.

http://sonyafightslyme.blogspot.com/2011/03/burrascano-notes-from-march-21st-talk.html#more

Thinking of Tai chi this am or any organized movement.

Kudo's to all of you for doing what you can to keep the body moving which also helps the brain or vice a versa.

Also thinking of the tulip and the slow, organized movement it takes to grow and blossom.

No rush....we will get there too.

don't forget to vote for the lyme car with Nascar. Site is down this am so hoping it will be up later.

http://www.sponsafier.com/share/46869

voting until May 1st

Helmet will be displayed in Dr. Jones office

I most likely will be laying low the first part of the week at least due to over doing it the past few days.

dr b is short annd sweet now on exercise---his last guidelines spelled out PT andwere long

i like this better

do what you can do but increase it gradually

i'm pretty sure he has recently said it is very important to exercise every other day...not every day. we need a rest.

i had a good ride today. mounting block is better than it was but not right yet. i have a guy to help me thursday.

i rode a full hour for the first time and i am exhausted. it feels good to be tired this way tho. i couldn't sleep last night til 3:30 cuz of emotional holiday day stuff

late yesterday i was thinking...ahhh. i survived another holiday alone. and then a stupid ad came on the tv about mothers day. only 2 weeks away. i wish i could stick novacaine in my brain to get thru these holidays

anyway---i feel good after that ride.

rest up kam.

Pace yourself, they tell me. I am seeing a lymphedema therapist. She does a very light massage that stimulates my liver and makes me a bit ill for a day as the detoxing is intensified.

But then I get more energy the next day or so. She said to push myself...but just a little bit and to back off when tired.

When tired my glands swell, hands shake and speech goes south. I am trying to stop before that happens...not always easy. I get too excited when I do have energy and then crash from overdoing it.

It takes time and patience to figure out your limits. Easy does it, folks.

The part about detoxing and having more energy afterwards sounds good.

The part about getting sick first doesn't sound good but know that is how it goes.

Thanks Kayak for the summary.

Able to put in two loads of laundry this am. Resting now and then will go down the hall and put them in the dryer.

Got mixed up and put the quarters in the dryer thinking it was the washer this am...so dryer is ready to go when needed.

While out toileting Rosie, I thought I was doing well enough to get a cup of coffee.

But, when I got to the street I needed to cross the traffic noise and movement was too much.

Also the thought of having to open the door and go into the restaurant for the coffee and sit upright in the chair to drink it.

my chair reclines but it still takes more out of me than it is worth it to get a cup of coffee...

two places that are close by don't have enough space to move about in a power chair plus the opening of the door is too much for me

the 3rd option has steps so I would need to get out of the power chair and walk in...plus all 3 places are on the main highway...too much road noise

Actually there were several places to choose from within power chair distance on the main highway...

but the multi tasking needed to get the job done was too much this am and usually is. Coffee is out.

Might make some here at home later.

Picking and choosing what we use our limited energy on is tricky when we are running on empty.

"I get too excited when I do have energy and then crash from overdoing it."

it is soooooo hard not to do that!

"Picking and choosing what we use our limited energy on is tricky when we are running on empty."

this reminds me of "the spoon theory"

www.butyoudontlooksick.com/the_spoon_theory

but last week when i was trying to explain to the computer guy why it was impt he not explain the "why" just the "what i have to do" and when i was telling him it is major that i be able to turn on and off things and plug in things without bending and stretching he wasn't really understanding. but i could tell he wanted to.

so i said, i am like the laptop. when i get out of bed in the morning (IF i had a good nights sleep) i have just so much energy in my battery. it is used up physically and mentally. so much for making breakfast-getting dressed-so much for each decision i have to make...each time i have to use my brain to remember something. turning on a lightswitch or remembering what day it is takes energy from my battery. and when its used up...it is gone. i go blank. i am down for the count until i get good quality sleep again.

he seemed to understand better...if i don't have to struggle to turn the laptop on then i get to write one more email...and he made things easier

hope i get a ride in later. etta wil get her exercise at doggie daycare!

It seems like I have most the symptoms, I also try to some laundry and groceries. I've been on abx for about 6 months, with not much changing.
Lost most people in my life and my job. It just comes at you in every direction. its so hard to get out of this. I hope for everyone it gets better.

Lynn...glad you are trying some laundry and getting groceries.

yes. This does come at you from every direction.

Kayak...I like the computer analogy. I have tried the spoon theory on others and they didn't get it.

Sometimes my brain needs to degrag too!

Slept for 3 hours after doing the laundry.

Walked into RAdio Shack. Land line is not working. They thought it was the phone or it could be the battery.

Both are very old.

Walked into cable company. Tv has not been working for a while now but I have not been able to do anything about it due to health.

They are sending someone out tomorrow morning.

TV is old too so hoping it is their box and not my TV

I might have another phone in storage but don't have the strength to move patio furniture from storage door and move boxes in storage to find out.

Miss my friend not being here. She was able to do so much while she was here. It made such a big difference to have the help.

Both places had chairs thankfully so I was able to sit down once I got in the stores.

A squeaky mop tried to attack Rosie when we left one of the stores.

(A dog from the store next door with bad manners but must admit it was kind of funny)

Rosie did not think it was funny. I had to hold her back. Squeaky rag muffin listened to me when I told her or him to go away.

She backed off and then I was able to get Rosie in the car. Health was not strong enought of to deal with that.

REally wish I had a vehicle to transport the power chair. it would make life so much more do able.

i worked on mounting block for 4 hrs in sun. don't know how i did it. it is almost done. a guy at the barn helpd some.but i hammered and my hands are killing me.

i hope i can finish it tomorrow and stop stressing over getting on and off and just ride.

then we went to ettas puppy class. she is doing surprisingly well even tho i don't practice as much as i should and i do a lot of things different than this trainer wants.

i thought etta didn't do good in class cuz SHE was so distracted by other dogs...but when the trainer took her to demonstrate...etta was totally tuned into the trainer. its ME who can't focus! plus she is about 4-5 inches off the ground and its really hard for me to get down there

but both fixing the block and taking her to class were my exercise. it was abusive and i'm glad its not what i have to do everyday

but-she must be really smart to be learning anything when i am so distractable...

the storms i am seeing on the tv are awful...i hope you are all ok. they come here tomorrow but shouldn't be tornados.

What a relief to get the block done and sounds like Etta is coming along fine.

Thinking of the Butterfly Affect today. I will post a utube video of it later.

Able to walk into ma and pa store and pick up a couple of things.

Then drove Rosie out to dirt road. i drove while she stretched her legs.

Emptied DW that friend filled up when she was here last Saturday or perhaps it was last Friday.

She did not know that you have to rinse dishes off before putting them in DW so had some baked on dirty dishes to soak.

Also did a bit more in the kitchen after resting from emptying Dw.

Resting now then hoping to do a bit more.

It has been a week since I have been able to so things need doin.

I spent about 3 hours in the garden yesterday. I weeded my pea patch and then planted. I am about 15 days late, but it was out of my control as the weather has not been cooperative. My legs are not happy with the activity yesterday. I have found muscles that I forgot about.

Have a good Saturday, everyone!

MWF .. I missed Friday because I had a craft show to do. It was at our hospital. Total bust for me. Had fun talking to two friends who shared a booth with me.

One of them is the cardiac rehab secretary and the other was one of my nurses when I was in the hospital with my heart issues two years ago. She is really a great nurse.

This is what happened to me on Wednesday on my way to cardiac rehab!!---

--Some idiot almost got me killed this afternoon. He tried to go around the car just ahead of me in the right lane on the highway and lost control. Somehow he got it back together just in time to exit the highway. He did it all because he couldn't wait an extra 10 seconds to do it safely. He was going about 70 and tried to go around on the shoulder in the RAIN!! GRRRRR [cussing]

I still can't believe he did not totally lose control. He would have seriously injured or killed those in his car, the one ahead of me, and ME.

It was raining like crazy at the time. [rant]

Hurray! Able to take a shower this am and go to grocery store.

Walked in and used cart.

Exhausted now.

Went to pick up gabapentin at pharmacy in grocery store. But, they do not open until 10 am on Sunday's.

New to using this pharmacy.

Noticed when I called in the refill it said may cause blurriness. Ah HA. maybe this is why I have trouble reading your posts.

I'll be back to see what I have missed later gator.

Exercise #1: sit down and stand up. Keep knees apart and feet flat on floor. Stand up without using hands. Sit down. Do it every now and then. Practice good posture. Change positions from time to time.

Exercise #2: Heel lifts. I was told "Do 300 a day". But the therapist modified that to say that she meant to do them as often as I remember. I try to do 5 or 10 at a time. You just stand on your toes and lift your heels. This strengthens legs, helping to ease pain.

I am very pleased with my lymphedema therapist. Somehow she, through extremely light massage, "gets things moving" and I am detoxing more rapidly. I fell asleep right after treatment yesterday and have been exhausted. But within about 24 hours of treatment I start to revive. My son notices some of the swelling going down. My glands hurt for a day or so as the lymph drains.

Maybe some of you would like to work on the exercises along with me and we can all report on our progress!
