As we start the new week these verses are on my heart
Hebrews 12:
1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a huge crowd of witnesses to the life of faith, let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially the sin that so easily trips us up. And let us run with endurance the race God has set before us.
2 We do this by keeping our eyes on Jesus, the champion who initiates and perfects our faith Because of the joy awaiting him, he endured the cross, disregarding its shame. Now he is seated in the place of honor beside God's throne.
As Dekrator says (her signature line at the end of her posts)
"I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13).
Just imagine, our strength comes from our Almighty God.
FYI, everything else comes from Him too!

Daisy, Why did you have these scriptures on your heart this day? I have been studying Hebrews 12:1-2 many a hour today, will tell you in a minute what I think in my heart it says. This morn I went to bible class and a learned a wee bit about Stephen in Acts. Stephen was a christian pilgram in the bible...The first to give his life...a martyr. Very sad story. Acts 7:55-60
Stephen was a Holy man and had his eyes fixed on Christ to the death, and he say what Jesus said...I think, he prayed while they were stoning him, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit." Then he knelt down and cried out in a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them." Then he died.
So Hebrews 12:1 We must be willing to let go of the sins that entangles our lives, which close our eyes and makes large our doubts and robs of our spiritual stamina. It say give me strength to say NO to the things that are not Holy...distractions but to embrace the things that make us more like Jesus. Yes?
Hebrews 12:2 We must turn or eyes away from ourself. Jesus is the source for our hope and faith. We won't find comfort or assurance in ourself, because God is all and all. Suffering, death and glories we need to keep fresh in our mind, look to Him morning, noon and night. Jesus sacrifice... He wants us to have his life come alive in us, hmm... and we will have confidence that comes to having Jesus as our Lord. Confidence... we could follow in His footsteps, His path wasn't just for him, but for us also. Yes?
You say..."I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength" (Philippians 4:13). So Christ gives me strength to do for Him....His will. Yes? Daisy am I making meaning?

I am struggling badly here, minute by minute with this illness, feeling absolutely aweful and debilitated.... I am entrusting it to the Lord, but it's a tough, tough go. I will ask the Lord to slip His hand around yours and that you will know that He is holding on to you.
I will ask for Him to relieve your pain and help you endure. That He will remind you that His thoughts about you are like the grains of sand on a beach.

I am praying for you! Our Heavenly Father knows you are struggling and suffering minute by minute.
He knows that you are persevering and that your faith is being strengthened through this terrible trial.
God has plans for you...for hope and a future.

I remember alot of other people posting on lymenet about how terribly they were struggling... and then months later reading about how they were so much better!
They thought when they were at the beginning of this journey that they would never get to that point....but they did! You will too.
Lord, please take rhody in the palm of your hand and hold rhody close.
Please comfort and strengthen rhody.
Lord, we know that all trials are meant to strenghten our faith.
Give rhody peace beyond all understanding that healing will come.
I ask that rhody will be granted physical and emotional healing.

My favorite aunt just passed away. Reliving my mom's passing all over again. This was her beloved sister. They are in heaven happy as can be. I'm as sad as I can be.

Aww, Lymetoo, I'm so sorry that you lost your favorite Aunt and are reliving your Mom's passing all over again.
I just said a prayer for you for comfort.
Someday you will all be reunited again...and what a party the 3 of you can have in Heaven.

MDW, I liked your "devotional" on Hebrews. Very nice. Why did I start this week's God Thought wtih those verses?
I was touched by what the people on God Thought shared last week and what each one is going through. So much pain and heart ache.
That is a very encouraging verse, so I wanted to post it as a reminder that we can run the race set before us. Jesus has gone before us. Others have gone before us...like Stephen, the first martyr.
We keep our eyes on Jesus, INDEED, the Author and Perfector of our faith and we can do all things through Him who gives us strength.

I would like to share something with my God Thought family and I pray it helps make the day more comforting to you. You Know I am slow typing so it might be an hour from now
Have you ever wondered why our burdens seem endless, that we repeatedly go through the same trials, making the same mistakes. This is the last time I will go through this we say, I truly have mastered this area of my life. And the next thing we know here it is again with the same pain.
Now by this time we are saying has God abandoned me or is He that displeased with me so greatly that He would allow this suffering to persist. Will I ever learn the lesson God desires to teach me.
God allows trials in our life because he desires to give us freedom through them and show us His love. Remembering what romans 5:3-5 says.... We rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not disappoint, because God's love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
So, you see through our troubles, God developes perseverance, character, hope and the ability to accept His abundant love. Know that he is drawing us close through this repeated problem. Do not despair....Cling to Him and He will fill us with His love and take heart my friends, that our Lord loves us, He is with us, and He will never forsake us.

Thank you everyone for your thoughts and prayers. This has hit me so hard. My aunt was so close to my mom and they were both such sweet, dear women. I feel so terrible for my cousins too.

Heard this in a song yesterday...didn't catch who sang it...but one of the verses was this: Trials of this life are Your mercies in disguise. Have been pondering that one for a bit.
When I have time, I will try and find out the song...the whole song was good, but that one line really stood out.

Here you go momindeep, I hear this song often on the radio and the lyrics are typed in below the song in comments I think. Laura says that sometimes God gives us what we need, but not what we want at times and these are the blessings in disguise.
It's kind of like what I wrote in the post above, we get angry and scared when we do not feel God hears our prayers when the road is so rocky, and we tend to forget that God loves us.... unless things are going our way and the road is smooth. We also forget to thank Him even when trials come our way in life. I can be a real snot nosed baby brat and say, "God my dear Father give it to me now!" and when I act like this, discipline is a tad longer, because my eyes are not on Him, they are on me. Faith. I believe one of His mercies in disguise momindeep is....He loves us, Jesus has walked this path and he will never ever leave us.

It is that very thought that keeps me strong.

Good morning friends! It's so good to see you here
I wanted to post last night but by the time I got done reading, listening, and thinking about what was shared I was completely overcome with emotion. I sat here in front of my computer for a long time but couldn't put my words together to express myself.
Last night I was reminded of the power of the Gospel. It's so simple and true, profound and life changing. It needs to remain in the forefront of my thoughts.
I hate that I get so easily distracted, my thoughts lost, and often caught up by worry (for family, friends, self, health, insurance, finances, etc...).
When I stop and think about how much God loves us, that He sent His only son Jesus to come and live with us, to take on our sin, to conquer death, and provide salvation. If I let that truth sink it changes how I feel, changes how I look at everything else.
So think about that today. Remember the Gospel truth. See if it might change the way you look at your day or how you are feeling. Let it really sink in.
God loves you. GOD LOVES YOU!
Please forgive me as I am struggling to put my thoughts into words. I'm praying that God will carry the message to your hearts anyways.

Have you all seen that organization that believes the rapture is taking place tomorrow? Yeah, May 21, 2011.
Suppose we did just have 24 hours left on earth...what we be doing now? Anything different than we're doing? I don't mean for us to really answer that question on God Thought...but I am thinking about what changes, if any, I would make.
Lord Jesus, help me to be like You and ALWAYS, ONLY do what pleases the Father. Fill each of us with the Power of the Holy Spirit to be all that You've called us to be and to do all that You want us to do. Thank You!

Daisy you had me hunting in past posts for a verse you always mention, I should have this Psalm memorized (I couldn't remember the #),
"This is the day that the Lord has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it" (Psalm 118:24).
You also say something like He is the same yesterday, today, tomorrow and Forever.
I am so glad that I took Matthew bible study, It says in Matthew..hold on let me peak.....and get my glasses..... Matthew 24:36 But concerning the day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of Heaven, nor the Son, But the Father only.
In answer to you even though you say we do not have to post; Yesterday is gone and tomorrow is not here yet, and I will enjoy living the day God has given me this day....today walking with the Lord, and viewing all His beauties with a child like vision, and maybe pray a bit more thanking Him for the time I had on earth. Thankyou for the warm prayer you share.

It is overwhelming to think about what the Father and Son did for us.
Jesus did not deserve to die...He did not deserve to suffer like that....yet He did it all for us! Wow!!!

MDW, "Rapture" is a word that has been used to describe when Jesus comes to earth for the Believers in Jesus Christ, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17,

Today is one of those days where I do not know what direction to go. I am doing alot of "What should I do today" and not gettin a darn thing done. You have one of those days? It is a pretty day today and one would think I could have plenty to do, but....?

Good morning dear family,
Since the Lord decided to be picky, I am still here for another day. I have not noticed any friends here on God thought. Am I the only one left behind?
As Daisy would say "this song is on my heart" this morning. I DO pray that my family here are doing well this beautiful Sunday.

I'm still here. Having a busy weekend of activities.
I also have days like that, where I know I have lots I could do, but don't accomplish alot.
On the days I do accomplish alot, I do feel better about it.

Jesus Weeps with You
``In all their affliction He was afflicted....in His love and in His pity He redeemed them. Isaiah 63:9
When was the last time you wept into your pillow at night, thinking no one cared?
Is the pain so deep and your hurt so great that you cry night after night? In your misery and loneliness, do you think Jesus is emotionally detached? That He just doesn't care? Or that He's simply too busy to notice? Or that He is somewhat callous since He sees a lot of pain that's worse than yours? Or that He couldn't possibly understand how you feel? Or that He's not concerned enough to meet your needs?
Did you know that Jesus weeps with you? Did you know He puts all your tears in a bottle because they are precious to Him? (Psalm 56:8) He has said in all of your afflictions, He Himself is afflicted. Why? Because He understands! And He loves you!
Your suffering is His. Your grief is His. Your tears are on His face!
I love this!! Knowing that Jesus is there with me everytime I cry is such a comfort to my soul. Larry Crabb, the author of Shattered Dreams says that there are times when tears will be your deepest form of worship.
And that's okay.
Jesus keeps all our tears in a bottle, because he hurts when we hurt.
Feeling thankful today that I have a God who enters into my hurt, values my tears and comforts me when I'm weeping

Good evening friends! I hope that you've had a good Sunday
Today was very good for me because I was able to go to church, yay! I was so tired and I crashed afterwards but it was worth it.
My new medicines seem to be helping. It's such a relief. I hope that everything just gets better from here on out.
Another praise, my mom is doing really well recovering from her surgery. She's been able to eat more and she's back to doing all her normal daily activities. Her throat doesn't even look bruised any more and you can hardly see where her incision was.
Thank you Lord!

MDW, Thanks for sharing with us Ann Graham Lotz writes. This recent one on tears is beautiful, inspiring, and comforting. Imagine, our Lord not only sees all our tears, knows all of our sorrows, He saves our tears. They are precious to Him. Why? Because we are precious to Him.
sammy, was great to hear your good reports about you and your mom. PTL! Plus going to church. That's awesome! I'm thanking the Lord with you.
Dekrator, Thank you for your faithful prayers. God is answering and I am doing so well. God does answer prayer.
